Former Blazer Mychal Thompson chimes in on how to "fix the franchise"
New podcast just posted on OregonLive's Blazer Blog. Haven't listened to it yet, but I assume there's some interesting ideas in here.

Mychal States:
Draft Morrison
Randolph not a leader
Bring back ex-Blazers for community connection
Keep all practices open to public
Just a few of the tidbits....

He didn't mention: build a time machine, go back to 1978 and draft Larry Bird instead of Mychal Thompson?

Re: Former Blazer Mychal Thompson chimes in on how to "fix the franchise"
I just finished listening to the podcast and Thompson plain and simple just get's it.
When I was younger I used to attend Blazer practices all the time. It was awesome. The players would converse a little with you, sign autographs, and generally be human.
Hiring Thompson or a former Blazer for the radio....and no, Antonio Harvey does not count...would be a great move.
He echoed my feelings exactly on Zach, which means he's brilliant.
And drafting Morrison would be the smartest thing to do for PR along with the fact he can play.
Instead
Blazers hire "Mr. Sonic" as head coach
Don't even contact former Blazers doing radio like he or Clyde for the possition filled by Harvey
Refuse to even let the media in because a reporter was so desperate for info he had to cheat to get it.
And extend continue to think Zach is the building block of the franchise if Darius is gone..( a lil bird told me that one)

Morrison: we'll see.
Randolph: duh
Ex-Blazers: Aint that what Lucas is for? How much of a difference has that made, really? Would another one or two exes really make a difference? Or does Mychal really mean "they should give me a job"?
Practices open: I wouldn't object to this.

Re: Former Blazer Mychal Thompson chimes in on how to "fix the franchise"
One other thing he said that I thought was funny was that aside from Ben Wallace, Bowen, Kobe ( ) and Duncan, nobody in the NBA plays defense. So the fact that Morrison doesn't isn't a big issue.
He also said that nobdy as round as Zach should get a max contract unless his name is Shaq.

Kobe is an OUTSTANDING defender, as much as I hate to admit it.

Re: Former Blazer Mychal Thompson chimes in on how to "fix the franchise"
Maybe not keep all practices open because there might be times where a team has to really focus in on gameplans without any extra eyes and distractions. But should have most open. Draft Morrison.

Re: Former Blazer Mychal Thompson chimes in on how to "fix the franchise"
What I thought was the funnies part about his interview was saying we should give Joel 8 million a year. Then when he was corrected he said to give him a two year deal until we could give him more.

Perhaps he and Clyde could be co-GMs.
