Blazers/Nets trade?
northjersey.com, seen on hoopshype.com.
Team still needs a backup point. That would almost seem like a great situation for Steve Blake to perhaps one day become the successor to the aging Jason Kidd.
Quote:
The Nets need a backup point guard to spell Jason Kidd, but even if they take one Wednesday, they probably still would pursue a free agent such as Milt Palacio or Jannero Pargo. Coach Lawrence Frank may not entrust the team in a rookie's hands when Kidd sits.
It's not a strong free agent class, but the Nets hope to sign some high-energy and defensive-minded players this summer.
The Nets also could drop back in Wednesday's draft. They could send No. 23 and their $2.1 million trade exception to Portland for picks 30 and 31 and either Juan Dixon or Steve Blake. That would get them a veteran, but now they have an additional draft pick, so it may not make sense.
"It's hard," Nets GM Ed Stefanski said. "Our coach likes a veteran type of team. He'll play the best player even if it's a rookie, but it's hard for a rookie to come in and play. We have a couple of options. We'll have to see how the draft goes."

I would do that for Dixon (who doesn't really fit NJ's need), but I would hope for more value out of Blake. 30+31+Blake = only #23? How about 31+Blake for #23? That would be closer in my mind. But, NJ is also talking about packaging their picks and moving up. I would think they would be more intersted in that unless they really like Blake.

What do they really have that is worth trading for? A lousy draft pick in a weak draft? I would rather draft my 2 picks in the late round then give them up for something that will probably be just as good in the later round.

I see more value in trading Dixon than Blake... make it Dixon + #30 and #31 picks for their #22 and #23
Blake can play both guard spots.. Juan can not. Blake can shoot 3's... which we need that ability
we still get a trade exception to use when dealing Miles or ?....
we then take the #23 and deal it with Miles for a better pick

Re: Blazers/Nets trade?
Oh my god please no more Nets rumors.
Blake is ok but please no trades involving Bassy without getting Carter or RJ
