Yeah, I'm sure Bassy would be shooting better than
the paltry 69% R.O.Y. is shooting.
/end{sarcasm}

With the acquisition of the new rookies, and the signing
of Joel, this is the most excited I've seen Blazer fans in years.

Re: In comparison

I find it funny that same posters who were bashing Telfair's poor shooting and low assist to turnover ratio just months ago, have now fallen in love with him since he's been traded.

See why I'm not excited about draft day?
Almost every player in the summer league is fighting for a roster spot and/or a spot in somebody's rotation. There was an intersting article on hoopshype where Ron Artest said he came down to the summer league because it was the best quality run he could get and that the competition was better than people thought. He mentioned that everybody had something to prove, and that makes it challenging. While most of the time I don't put a lot of stock in what RA says, I believe him in this case. We talked a lot last year (in the beginning of the reg. season) about how if the Blazers just played hard everynight, they could stay in games - effort goes a long ways towards keeping games close even if the talent level isn't even.

Re: In comparison

Does anyone here believe, based on their summer league performances, that Brandon Roy - right now - is not a better contributor than Sebastian Telfair.

I like Telfair as much as the next guy, and I truly believe he suffered in our system, but Brandon Roy looks to be our best draft pick in years. Roy can be really special. Appears to have the ability to get into the lane at will. Can hit the mid-range jumper. Plays defense. Gets into the passing lane. High basketball IQ. How can anyone be down on this guy?

I agree. Roy has sounded pretty good, and seems likely to have a better year this year. That being said, I think most people are concerned with the long term comparison. Both are still pretty young so I think it will take a few years before we'll figure out who the real winner and loser of that deal was. I personally still believe Telfair will pan out better, but only time will tell. Ideally, I hope Telfair has a great career as he's a favorite of mine, I just hope Roy has a better one since I'm a Blazer fan. That would be the perfect situation for me, even though it would prove me wrong.

I have to agree, even though it seems almost rediculous to compare the two this early in Roy's professional career.

But there it is. I totally agree with you.

Re: In comparison

What? Nobody chiming in saying Roy will not be as good as point guard as Chris Paul yet? I am astonished.
