Roy will be our PG before the end of the year.
I really believe he's going to be our point guard of the future. He's 6-6 and he's a pass-first guy. Who wouldn't want that at the point?

I started a thread about this a couple of weeks ago. I agree that Roy would make an excellent point guard--probably the best we have.

In general like big PGs. But I was concerned with the number of TO he had in SL while running the point.

As much as I like that idea, I'm still thinking that it won't happen. I'm guessing that this year he will pass up Martell for the starting SG spot (won't take very long).

Re: Roy will be our PG before the end of the year.
His size would create some interesting matchup problems. He also is strong enough to bully around other tall points like livingston. On the flip side of the argument though, if we deal miles that leaves our sf position basically deserted.
Also what do we do with the four headed pg monster we already have? Jack could back up Roy, and I don't see Blake or Dikau in our long term plans, but sergio will be able to contribute sooner than later.
Also I seem to have forgotten about Juan Dixon. He sarted most of our games last year, but I seriously hope he is behind Webster in the rotation as of now.

Re: Roy will be our PG before the end of the year.
I love the idea, but I have my doubts. So many tall players come in that supposedly have point guard skills and they usually don't pan out in that position.
I can see him taking some point guard duties from time to time, but I don't see him as being a permanent solution there just quite yet.

Re: Roy will be our PG before the end of the year.
from what I saw, he is EXTREMELY offensively efficient. I'd like him to run at the shooting guard.

Re: Roy will be our PG before the end of the year.
Remember I said he will be our starting PG by the end of the year. The thing I like about him is that he seems to improve every game he plays. I believe he can play the point and it is a terrific advantage to have someone 6-6 and strong at that position.

Re: Roy will be our PG before the end of the year.
He's a nice option to have at pg but only for stretches at a time. He's a natural two guard and we already have JJ, Blake, Dickau, and Sergio at the point. It just means that the Blazers will be able to field a team with exceptional ball handling skills if they want to.
It's all good.

Re: Roy will be our PG before the end of the year.
Roy will get some time at the point, but is a more natural 2. Roy can run the offense well, but will have problems defending some of the quicker point guards.
J. Jack will be the starter at point and is a more capable defender at the point.

Re: Roy will be our PG before the end of the year.
I'd like our Blazers to be one of those teams that causes a matchup problem at PG by using Roy. Instead of always the other way around (K Anderson, Damon, Telfair).

If you choose to play Roy over Jack and Blake at the PG spot, Martell is your only true SG and you are left with only Travis to play the 3.
Using Roy at the PG is just a poor use of talent. Keep Jack, Roy and Webster on the floor together.

Re: Roy will be our PG before the end of the year.
While much of the offense may focus on Roy by the end of the year I don't think he will be the starting PG. My guess is we'll start Blake/Jack and simply run alot of the offense through Roy. Somewhat similiar to Lebron running Clevelend's offense from the SF spot.

Re: Roy will be our PG before the end of the year.
Roy and Telfair would have been an interesting combo IMO...with Roy's size and playmaking abilities and Telfair's size and scoring abilities....
