Magloire and the sound of silence
Anyone else find it troubling that there are no quotes anywhere (that i've seen at least) from Mags regarding the trade to the Blazers?
You think by now someone would have talked to him. Or that he would have posted something on his website.

Re: Magloire and the sound of silence
It is odd, do you think that no one in Milwakee has told him yet and he still thinks he is a Buck?

Re: Magloire and the sound of silence
Wasn't it posted recently that he's in the middle of putting together a show of some sort in Toronto? Perhaps domestic beat writers haven't figured out how to conveniently contact him. Or, maybe he knows it's a temporary change of address and has declined comment.

Re: Magloire and the sound of silence
He's speechless. Words can't describe how excited he is.
You'd think they would at least hold a press conference somewhere, so that when opening day comes around, people in the crowd at the Rose Garden aren't like ... "hey ... wait a minute!"

Re: Magloire and the sound of silence
I thought I read that he is working at his camp in Toronto. Maybe he was writing a statement to read and wasn't sure which owner to thank for bringing him to the beautiful rose city....that is until yesterday

Re: Magloire and the sound of silence
Looks like the Blazer PR team dropped the ball. If they were smart, they would have gotten some quotes from Mags about how thrilled he was to be coming to Portland.
Unless he really isn't thrilled, and refuses to be quoted, which is worse news.

Re: Magloire and the sound of silence
how many quotes did local Atlanta reporters get from Rasheed Wallace? I doubt many.
for all Magloire (or almost anybody else) knows, he'll be gone as soon as the waiting period is over.
we have to wait, what, 60 days to trade him? could be he never even suits up to play an NBA game as a Blazer. not hard to imagine why the Blazers, or Magloire, aren't hyping Magloire's long-term commitment to rebuilding this organization.
could also be that he's just pissed as hell to be traded to the worst team in the league. yeah, I can see that.

Re: Magloire and the sound of silence
I wouldn't read too much into it. It's the summertime. Players are vacationing, or doing charity work, or basketball camps, etc. If you look at the Milwaukee papers, they don't have word one from Steve Blake on the trade either. There was the story that came out here, with a few quotes from Steve, mostly saying he was disappointed. If someone really wants to know what's going on, send an email to Kevin Pritchard or Mike Barrett. They'll probably have an idea of why we haven't heard from Jamaal yet.

I don't care if he never opens his mouth, except, of course, to put a slice of cake into it. Just play hard.

Re: Magloire and the sound of silence
I agree that it is odd that we haven't had one quote. We had quotes all over from LaFrentz. I actually think that silence speaks louder than word. I for one liked the trade, but wondered why we did it when we already have Joel, Raef, Zack, and LaMarcus. I personally have always felt that Mags and Darius are being packaged around the league.
