Re: webster or roy?
I go with Roy. Roy has the ability to make everyone around him better. I don't see that with Webster at this point. Roy is also a terrific defender, and his ability to hit a variety of shots makes him more dangerous. Webster needs some more time to grow.

Re: webster or roy?
Roy 365 days a year, and on leap years, I'd take Marty that one day. Now, Webster will become the much more superior offensive player, but Brandon will become the much better all around player.

Re: webster or roy?
I think Roy is going to be the better player, but Webster is going to be an above average starter and elite shooter. I dont think either will ever become franchise players, but I can see Roy being a multiple all star. I would say Roy has a ceiling around Jalen Rose's best years in indiana, around 20 points with 5-6 assists and a high FG%. I think Webster will be a Glen Rice lite'.

Re: webster or roy?
Right now it seems like Roy is the more developed player, despite being a rookie, so he'll start. Webster will be the primary backup at the SF position, and with Miles as the starter, he's likely to see significant time due to Darius's potential for slacking, injury, mental implosion or trade.

Re: webster or roy?
After we drafted Roy wasn't there a quote from the UW coach about Roy learning the offense in like 45minutes? Sorry I can't remmber, but judging by the summerleague I think Roy will be getting significant minutes at multiple positions and we have to consider who will we bring off the bench to create a spark or continue the momentuum or play defense. Roy might end up being good to bring off the bench, not because Martell or Dixon are better but because he can change the game.

Re: webster or roy?
What a great question. I think we all will have a better answer in a few weeks after they are both playing full time against veterans.

Let's try to get more creative with the comps. Taking the comps straight from nbadraft.net is simply weak.
Jalen is a SG who thought he was a PG. Roy is nothing like Jalen. Roy is a SG who can create and wants to play defense. A less athletic Paul Pierce.
Webster is already a better defender than Rice ever was. Martell's more of a Micheal Finley.

Re: webster or roy?
If I'm just puttin the guys I like out on the floor I say you start them both. But if we're starting Darius Miles at the 3 I'd start Webster at the 2. He is a dead eye shooter from the outside and teams know it. They do a good job of keeping a guy on him. So he's spreading the floor for a guy like Miles to have more room to work.
I don't see Miles and Roy working that well together. They're both the gotta have the ball in my hands type of player. Where as Webster is perfectly ok working without the ball and I think helps both of those guys to be more effective. Just my

Sorry, Ebott, but that's not how I see it. I don't think either guy needs the ball in their hands and, more the point, I think Webster almost needs to not have the ball -- he'd get stripped too easily if he's dribbling in any sort of traffic.
Roy seems great at creating, either for himself or others, either with or without the ball, and from any of three positions. Webster's a threat from anywhere on the floor if he's got his feet set. Roy, particularly when combined with with other decent ball-handlers (such as Jack or even Miles), seems like a perfect decoy for Webster.

I think you're either over-estimating Roy's ability to play the point or under-estimating Jack's. Jack did pretty well last year while playing on a bad ankle the whole time. As for Roy, while he might not be anywhere near their skill levels or impact, from what we know now, I'd say Roy's game is closer to Jordan's than, say... Kidd's. And yes, Jordan was able to play the point for stretches but even if the offense was going through him, it made better sense to have someone like Paxon, Kerr, or Armstrong bringing the ball up, just to spell him those few seconds every transition.
Back to Jack, I'm thinking that, on two good ankles, we'll see a much more mobile player, and he was already the best defensive option at PG last season. But really, even without Jack, I think I'd rather start Dickau at the point, either Roy or Webster (leaning towards Roy) at SG and either Miles or Webster (leaning towards Miles) than start Roy at PG.

Exactly.
Jack has much more experience at the point and even Dickau can run the team for 10-15 min/game.
Having Roy play PG is a waste of his ability, since he can play well without the ball, rebound and post up.
Jack/Roy/Webster should play well at the 1/2/3 spots.

We're agreed, save that I think they've gotta start Miles at the 3 if he's still on the roster. If Webster's coming in off the bench, I could see him going to either the 2 or the 3. And then there's still Dixon who's likely to still be in the rotation....

Roy at the 2. Webster at the 3 eventually.
