webster or roy?
as your starting 2 guard, i have to go with webster, i also so think webster will be the better nba player, i see him becoming a poor mans ray allen or kinda a rip hamilton, and i see roy becoming a jalen rose or a larry hughes

Re: webster or roy?
I'm thinking Roy is both more ready now and better suited to play SG. Ideally Webster can become a good SG as his value will be higher if he can play both SG and SF but at this point I think Webster has almost no hope of staying in front of most starting SGs in the NBA but at least a prayer vs. some of the starting SFs. Roy, otoh, seems like a strong defender 1 through 3 and is probably more useful than Webster offensively in every aspect except maaaaybe long-range shooting.

Re: webster or roy?
No prayer of guarding SG's? That's very grandeous. We all saw last year that he could guard NBA players one on one, and he was just a rookie.

Okay, perhaps I exaggerated and/or overstated but he's hardly looked like a stopper. Roy, otoh, seems like he might be a more intelligent, taller, and faster version of Patterson.
Comparing Roy to Webster, I'll bet that Roy turns out to be the better ball-handler, rebounder, defender, leader, and probably even scorer. Really the only thing I think Webster's likely to be stronger than Roy at is hitting the spot-up 3, and perhaps not even that, though I'd love to be proven wrong (presuming I'm proven to be underestimating Webster rather than overestimating Roy). Regardless, I think they're likely to work well together on the court and push each other in good ways both on and off the court.

Re: webster or roy?
As of now i would start webster over roy and as the season goes on maybe gradually move webster to the 3 and put roy in a the 2.

Re: webster or roy?
Not that I'm endorsing this but, if Roy doesn't start at SG, I'm guessing Dixon starts over Webster (presuming he's still on the roster). I don't think Nate's ready to make Webster a starter (at either SG or SF) though I certainly hope (and expect) he'll see a great deal more time this year than last.

Re: webster or roy?
Nate McMillan has virtually no excuse for not playing significant minutes to either Webster or Roy. After Dixon, there's nobody that should be seeing the floor more than Brandon or Martell at the shooting guard position.

Re: webster or roy?
Dixon put up good numbers last year when we were desperate for some shooting. In a couple of years Webster will be deadly from 3 point range and will be the starter. But right now we need Roy who brings a better overall game and will accomodate Jack more. I say start Roy, have Dixon come of the bench and give Webster minutes from small forward and give extra depth at shooting gaurd if Roy or Dixon start struggling shooting the ball.

Re: webster or roy?
I would start Roy now, because I believe he is the better player now. I also believe that Webster will be the more spectacular player down the road. Who will be "better" depends on how you define it. Who is better for New Jersey, Carter of Kidd? That's kind of how I see this.

Re: webster or roy?
You can't make the comparison until Roy has played some Martell-like minutes in the NBA.
And considering that Martell is still two-ish years younger, he's rawer and doesn't have the same level of development. So right now, it's too early to tell. We'll have to see how each player develops and grows.

Re: webster or roy?
Based solely on summer league you'd have to say Roy I think. He is certainly the more complete player at this point in their respective careers.

Okay sure, but if we are talking about right now, I think Roy's the better player. Regardless, it'll be interesting to see what happens!

Re: webster or roy?
The correct answer is Webster and Roy. Both players are better than Jack and only a fool would start Jack over either of them.

Re: webster or roy?
Webster had trouble learning the defensive schemes last year.
Not Outlaw trouble, but trouble nonetheless. Until that changes,
I don't see him starting.

Re: webster or roy?
Roy. He's more versatile, a better team player, better defender and will probably shoot a higher FG % than Webbs. That may not be true down the road, but I think that those things are pretty hard to deny at this point. Somehow I have a feeling that Dixon will start over both of them at first, though.
