Re: The Wizards didn't match Jeffries offer sheet..
Well, now that Washington has lost their athletic defensive player maby they would be interested in Miles.
Miles and Dixon for Etan Thomas and Jarvis Hayes or Andre Blatche?

If they didn't want to pay JJ 5 mil, I doubt they will want to pay Miles millions more.

They have Miles already. They signed deshawn stevenson to a contract paying him less than a million per.

Re: The Wizards didn't match Jeffries offer sheet..
The Darius Miles we all (well most) fell in love with was the DM that played with Sheed. Sheed went outside and it up for both Zack and DM. That was the DM we really liked and the one that got the big contract.
I am going out on a limb and going to predict that DM will shine on this years team. Why?
Because we have two, count them, two guys that can open up the inside for Zack and DM. We have Raef and we have Marcus. Both can shoot from the outside and can drive if needed. This is similar to Sheeds game at the time Miles came to us.
Then of course we have a healthier Jack and Roy, and Webster is going to be more consistant along with Outlaw as well.
Of course if we can get this kind of play from a trade I am all for it if it will improve what we allready have.
I expect a better showing than most of us expect out of this team. It will take a while to get aquainted with each other but it could be exciting.
Go Portland Blazers.

That's a good thought, but we got Darius 1/21/04 and traded Sheed 2/9/04. There were only a few games they played together (9).

Re: The Wizards didn't match Jeffries offer sheet..
Considering how weak we could be at small forward, maybe we should keep him until at least December. Who knows, maybe with this new cast, he'll turn around.
I'm not expecting it, per se, but we'd suck that much more if we traded him and didn't get a small forward in return.

I like your thinking - it's exactly the same thought process we need in a trading partner.

Nice try, Mr. Glass-Almost-Empty, but DeShawn Stevenson is worse than Miles, in the most important statistical categories... and he's not as big or as good defensively.
PPG? Career - Miles has Stevenson by a margin of 10.6 ppg to 7.6 ppg.
RPG? Career - Miles with 5.2 rpg while Stevenson has less than half that at 2.3 per.
FG %? Career - Again, Miles leads Stevenson by a substantial margin - 47% to 42%.
Miles has more steals and assists, as well.
In trading for Miles, the Wizards would get rid of an equivalent contract. But it could be that they think Stevenson is good enough, especially considering the cost differential.

Miles also leads in these categories
Alienating coaches
Being lazy
Wearing out his welcome
Being a bad influence on young players
Having fans demand he is traded
Police blotter.....er.....being in the wrong place at the wrong time
Sometimes it's not all about stats. This is one of those times. No one wants Miles because of the things I mentioned above along with the length and amount of his contract.

I hate facts and people who use them to defeat me.
I was going on memory and at my age that is dangerous. The scenes that I remember were Sheed in the corner and Miles slashing to the hoop. Maybe Miles was just better then (at least in my memory).
I still believe that he is a kid that easily gets depressed when thing are going poorly and creating a "don't-try-give-up-attitude". I think that He and Zack both lost any hope of things going well at the end of last season and with the injuries and all they just gave up. (Of course I would like to see players that don't do this but most players are human).
Anyway, we are probably not going to trade him this summer.
