Re: Blazers-Knicks
for me its like this:
-we rid of miles' attitude
-we get q rich...an exciting player...a better shooter then miles...who can flourish under the tutelage of nate
-people may think q rich has a bad attitude but it cant be worse than miles
-he shoots 35% from 3...which is ok...but only 40% from the field

How many chances does Miles get. At some point you have to just accept that pit bulls eat childrens faces, and move on.

For three of his years in the league, his assist to turnover ratio has been negative, so he is not a better ball handler than Darius. He is not a particularly good defender, IMO. He certainly does not have Miles' ability to block shots either. He is a definite downgrade from Darius talent wise.

Ditto. It seems crazy to me to trade for someone with a sub 40% field goal average and to describe him as a pure shooter.

Re: Blazers-Knicks
guys, richardson while streaky, is a definite shooter. Those 35% fg stats are misleading, especially with the playing time and situation for him with the knicks last season, not to mention his brothers shooting....
Q is a real team player, thats got to be worth something. 3pt is hot, i believe q rich has it in him to become a 45%fg, and greater than 40%3pt shooter. Very good rebounding at SF, and a well developed body.
If this trade comes along, and im the GM, id want q rich rather miles. hell, he can be a team player who encourages the likes of roy, jack and webster, blazers will come much happier in team morale and structure with this. my thoughts.

Re: Blazers-Knicks
Q wasn't healthy last year. The only problem with him is his contract exceeds his ability. He can be productive if healthy. But the only thing that should matter is getting Miles away from all of your young talent. The Knicks are probably the only team that would be willing to take Darius. Isiah has helped the Bulls a couple of times and I hope he does the same for you.

Re: Blazers-Knicks
yep, when a team wants to rebuild, it must rebuild in the true sense of the word here: giving all the young players a shot, period. dont have a 25-30 yr old play more than 20 minutes if you want to maybe come last in your division, but with the ongoing trust and development in younger players, you will be stocked of these players in the middle of their careers who can make more than just some noise in the league. Of course the media and fan base is hurt if drastic failure does occur, so its pretty delicate. You just dont ever want to be in a position where u are stuck with a roster than is half-heartedly (unsuccessfully) rebuilding with mediocre results - see timberwolves for example, indiana maybe, knicks.
hopefully u guys will be commited 100% to your young guns, basically that means giving plenty of responsibility, but without expecting so much from them. Cause, these things dont happen, starting line ups of 22 year olds can't be fathomed, but see here a starting line up of those same players at 25-26 yrs of age.

Darius Miles 6-9 SF from East St. Louis (HS)
14.0 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 1.8 apg in 32.2 minutes
Jamaal Magloire 6-11 C from Kentucky
9.2 ppg, 9.5 rpg, 0.7 apg in 30.1 minutes
Incoming
Quentin Richardson 6-6 SG from DePaul
8.2 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 1.6 apg in 26.2 minutes
Maurice Taylor 6-9 PF from Michigan
6.3 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 0.8 apg in 18.0 minutes
Why for Portland - Portland "gets rid" of Darius for all those who think he hurts the team for Q, who although has had injuries, is a team player and pretty darn good when healthy. Portland also gets Taylor who has an expiring contract and could fill in spot minutes if needed. Portland does not need Mags with the abundance of pf/c's on the team and getting back Taylor for spot minutes should be ok.
Why for NY - They get an athletic Miles in NY where he may finally blossom. Mags would be a good veteran presence on the team who will be able to play Center or PF if C in rotating.
Picks and Cash may be added to make things equal.

Re: Blazers-Knicks
Im not so sure i would do it if i was Portland. Magloire is potential All-Star center. Im not really sure what Taylor can do, but to me he seems like more baggage then someone that can help us out. I like that fact that we get rid of Miles, but Mags and Miles for Richardson and Taylor just doesnt make much sense to me.
