Speculation: If Sonics Move
If the Sonics were to move to OKC (and I hope they don't), how would the NBA realign itself? Would a new team enter the NW Division?

I'd put Memphis in the Central division, move the Oklahoma City Sonics to the Southwest division, and put the Milwaukee Bucks in the Northwest division which I would rename the Northern division. They won't do that, but that makes the most geographical sense.

Re: Speculation: If Sonics Move
or they could put sactown in the nw division
or stern could give seattle or vancouver (<=== this would be nice of him to do since the grizzlies own screwed them over and the grizz were doing better in vancouver than they are doing in memphis) a franchise.

Re: Speculation: If Sonics Move
Realignment probably wouldn't happen any time soon. It's a complicated process, and I doubt they'd shake things up just because a single team moved.

I'll preface this by saying look at my .sig line.
Okay. If this happens, I like Mediocre Man's idea.
But EdO is right about realignment being complicated.

See, this is why the Sonics should NOT move to small market OKC. It would be one thing if the Sonics had no fanbase and were a small market (the same size as New Orleans or Charlotte) but they aren't. The 14th media market to the 45th is just ridiculous. And Memphis, NO, and Charlotte are examples of why teams should not be moved like free agents.

So you think that the NW division would just keep the OKC Sonics? You might be right in the short term. As I mentioned, I hope it does not come to pass and the Sonics stay put.

Yep, I think that the NW division keeps the OKC Sonics... or whatever they'd be called.
In the long run, realignment would happen. Of course, in the long run we're all dead.

KISS: Keep It Simple, Stupid
WESTERN CONFERENCE
Dallas
Denver
Golden State
Houston
Los Angeles Clippers
Los Angeles Lakers
Memphis
Milwuakee
Minnesota
New Orleans
Phoenix
Portland
Sacramento
San Antonio
Utah
EASTERN CONFERENCE
Atlanta
Boston
Charlotte
Chicago
Cleveland
Detroit
Indiana
Miami
New Jersey
New York
Oklahoma City
Orlando
Philadelphia
Toronto
Washington
IMO, this would once again solve the problem of crappy playoff seeding.

That's a great quote. Did you make that up yourself?

No, they didn't do better in Vancouver.

John Maynard Keynes did, as far as I know.
It's a fun quote to throw out there, though

Also, if the Sonics move to OKC, wouldn't it make more sense for Memphis to move to the eastern division and for the Sonics to stay in the western?
