You KNOW It's Slow.....
...when I am relegated to poking around Canzano's blog for info, ANY info.
Nonetheless, here's a blurb..
Quote:
How many hosts does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
1080-AM "The Fan" will be using a series of guest hosts while it prepares to name a replacement for Ian Furness, who is leaving for Seattle.
The line-up this week: Monday (Isaac Ropp), Tuesday (Brian Wheeler), Wednesday (Gavin Dawson), Thursday (Dwight Jaynes) and the author of this blog will host the show on Friday. Obviously, Friday's show will be the only one that is guaranteed to be rice pilaf-free. Tune in if you'd like. Or don't if you don't like.

Re: You KNOW It's Slow.....
of those, Dwight is the only one who actually has strong radio experience (and having a crappy show on the weekend on a piss-ant radio station that sucks from head to toe (cept for one engineer), isn't saying much).
Dwight would improve that stations credibility 10 fold, and Johnny Plantinseed would diminish it's credibility 100 fold.

Re: You KNOW It's Slow.....
That's kind of cool. I might just tune in to see how different guys run the show differently.

Re: You KNOW It's Slow.....
Wheels is awesome as a radio host. He gives great interviews. The blazers spots last season where he "interviewed" the players ("what's your favorite nba team") make it sound like he is a tool, but he is very good.

Re: You KNOW It's Slow.....
Wheels is still my favorite front runner. Eventhough Hap doesn't believe that KFXX can offer enough money, I still disagree. I think they can offer a decent base with major advertising and promotional opportunities. I'm telling you, Wheels is one of the lowest paid announcers in the NBA. He works on one year contracts, which is not the norm in the NBA and is in my mind very disrespectful for a guy who truley loves this team. Having Sirius radio gives me a chance to listen to almost every announcer in the league, and believe me, Wheels is in the top 4.

Eerily similar to what the Blazers have been doing roster-wise in the Post-Whitsitt Era.
Hope it doesn't take The Fan 5-8 years to pick a decent host.

Re: You KNOW It's Slow.....
more slow day news:
Quote:
Heat waive Derek Anderson
September 12, 2006
MIAMI (AP) -- The Miami Heat waived veteran reserve guard Derek Anderson Tuesday, meaning the defending NBA champions will not be bringing their entire roster from last season into this year's camp.
Anderson came to the Heat on Feb. 23 and appeared in 23 regular-season games, averaging 5.8 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.1 assists. He also played in eight playoff games, averaging 3.0 points, and did not see any time during the NBA finals.
Anderson was due to make $2.5 million this coming season, yet had been expected for several weeks to ask for a buyout so he can seek more playing time elsewhere.
The Heat have 13 players from last season's 15-man roster under contract; the team, which opens training camp in three weeks, is still talking with veteran forward Shandon Anderson about a return.

Re: You KNOW It's Slow.....
We should bring DA back since we're still paying him and all. Maybe he could run errands like picking up lunches and scheduling banquets. Maybe he could be the world's most expensive hot dog vendor.

Re: You KNOW It's Slow.....
I saw him at summer league.
He came in wearing a baseball cap and dreadlocks, then quickly removed them when he was seated.
I think he'd be a great addition to Orlando. He lives there, so it wouldn't be a stretch. That's my pick.
