There's an idea - suppose they break the Rose Garden lease, but stay in the Portland area. Previously people have suggested playing in the MC, but let's take it a step further - suppose they just do away with the live audience and play the games at the practice facility. Televise all the home games, spend some bucks to make the broadcast as good as possible, make deals with all the bars in town to play the games, maybe use theaters like they used to do with the Paramount... make a deal with Comcast this time instead of failing to make a deal...

I rather doubt this comes anywhere close to working financially, but it would be an amusing way to poke PAM in the eye, even if it did involve cutting off their own nose.

[I guess the practice facility isn't in the city of Portland, so this might still involve breaking the agreement with the city. Ah well.]

I don't think the Blazers should do less of anything besides suck.

Re: Jaynes: Blazers should televise less home games

Screw that! The Blazers had the pitifully lowest number of games on TV for years and years! And I mean, the 2nd to last place team had TWICE as many games. We're still last I believe, but it's not nearly as bad. Portland is NOT a small NBA market, there are many teams from smaller cities.

Attendance has dropped because of crappy play, and high prices. The Blazers have lost money because of the ridiculas contracts they've given out. Learn to do business and you won't lose as much money. Stop blaming the fans.

Re: Jaynes: Blazers should televise less home games

The Blazers alredy televise the fewest games of any NBA team. To televise fewer is another slap in the face to a fanbase who's been pummelled repeatedly over the last few years. I agree with him often, but Jaynes is way off base this time.

that applying his own arguement would have him writing a whole lot less articles??? thats what popped into my mind anyways.

IMO DW is as overt and clumsy at stirring the pot as ever.

Re: Jaynes: Blazers should televise less home games

I prefer to watch on TV. I've been a fan since I was probably five and I've probably been to about 3-4 games total in my life. I enjoy watching on TV because I don't have to drive anywhere and I can make some popcorn or do other things I need to get done while watching the game. The TV is much better than the seats I'd be able to afford.
