Slam magazine: worst front offices

7. Portland Trailblazers - This is the most schizo front office in the league. Every year it’s a new plan. At least they’re younger now so they can use the rebuilding line. I can’t believe D Miles and Zach are still there.
|
I think they are a bit off about Portland. I agree that Darius and Zach need to be gone, but they just changed GM's, so their "plan" was bound to change as well.
Please don't post entire articles. Just quote a small portion and add a link.

Re: Slam magazine: worst front offices
I agree with Hap on this one, Slam isn't good for much reliable information for the most part.

Re: Slam magazine: worst front offices
Didn't read the whole article, but did they completely ignore everything this front office did this summer?

The downside of the Internet (aside from endless spam emails asking me if I want to enlarge my penis) is that everyone with a modem becomes an "expert". At least in his/her/its own mind.

I think they were talking about the shoes KP and Steve Patterson were wearing, not their actual front office reputation.
Personally, I'd go with the hi-top version with the velcro strap and air cushion.

Re: Slam magazine: worst front offices
Slam needs to realize that the reason Darius is still a Blazer has little to do with the front office and everything to do with the CBA. If this were the NFL, Darius would have been gone last March when he walked off at halftime.
There is simply no market for D. Miles and only a limited market (Denver) for Zach.

Re: Slam magazine: worst front offices
How exactly are they wrong?
What they said right there is the truth. I think all this bashing and weak humor is you guys trying to disregard the truth. They aren't the best basketball analysts, but this is far from some crazy, bold opinion. In fact, I think it's kind of predictable. You guys might finally have a plan now, but for the last 5 years you've been going in circles, and that's nearly undeniable. You don't get off the list after two years (if that) What, you guys think you have one of the best front offices?
By the way Nightfly, I doubt that was the whole article, they never post the full ones online.

Actually it has everything to do with the front office. Maybe not entirely THIS front office, but the Blazers front office is 100% at fault for Darius still being in a Blazers uniform.
Nash traded for him. Paul Allen fell in love with him. Nash, Patterson, and PA resigned him to a stupid extention. PA nixed trades last year because he liked Darius so much. Nate continues to play him even though he doesn't give 100%.
How is any of that the CBA's problem?

You hit it on the head. SLAM should be looking at the Pritchard era when rating the front offices, not the Nash era. Miles was signed to the extension due to the simple fact that PA and Nash knew he would be pissed at the team "showcasing Shareef" in 04/05 and that the risk of Miles walking at the end of that season was pretty darn good.
The fact that Miles contract is guaranteed (the CBA) has everything to do with Miles remaining a Blazer. He would have been cut last March if the Blazers were not on the hook for the remainder of the deal.

I saw your point in the first post, but you could say that about 85% of the players in the NBA. You don't think Zach would have been waived by now? Or any player on the Knicks?
