Blazers say "no thanks" to Kenny Anderson
Sorry if this was posted earlier: Behind the Blazers Beat
I gleen two things from this story:
1) Smart decision by the Blazers. While I appreciate Kenny's attitude, he's a horrible fit for this team.
2) Is anyone else noticing the culture really starting to change pretty rapidly? I mean, we've got guys from other teams who are coming to Portland to work out. There are several guys who have been serviceable point guards in this league who want to play for this team. To me, these are all promising signs. It wasn't too long ago that nobody even wanted to think about Portland as an option.
Anyways, my two cents.

He's bad. That makes him a bad fit
Or maybe a good fit, but not the kind of fit we need.

When was that? Portland has been able to get mid-to-lower tier free agents throughout our franchise encrapment. Anthony Carter and Kenny Anderson are old and washed up and probably know that the Blazers are their best chance for a job since the team is so inexperienced at the PG spot and has such low expectations for the upcoming season.

My offer to sign for the veterans minimum still stands. I promise I'll sit at the end of the bench and will never complain about lack of minutes... in fact, I'll even buy my own jersey. I know I'm short by NBA standards but I figure that just gives me a lower center of gravity so I'm harder to take down.

Good I don't want that scrub on our team. He thinks he is better than he really is.

Re: Blazers say "no thanks" to Kenny Anderson
As old as he is, Kenny would still mop the floor with the likes of Jack, Dickau and Roy, and probably destroy their confidence so completely that they'd never amount to anything at all.
Smart move by the Blazers in heading off such a PR fiasco.

Re: Blazers say "no thanks" to Kenny Anderson
A much different response to Kenny here then when it was mentioned a day or so earlier toward the end of the Anthony Carter thread
http://www.basketballboards.net/foru...d.php?t=303842
I wouldn't mind Kenny at all when comparing him to Anthony Carter, who the Blazers think is a better fit for the team for some reason.
Kenny seemed to enjoy Portland during his tenure here until he was traded for Damon, and he knows he's at the tail end of his career and won't play 30 minutes a game.
It's too bad the Blazers wouldn't give him a shot at least.

Re: Blazers say "no thanks" to Kenny Anderson
IMHO... The culture changed due to the Prophet Joel being retained this off season
He proclaimed that Portland is a team of choice for HIM, and is noteworthy to others around the league beucase he just resigned with the worst team record wise in the league...
Thank you JOEL...
