its just my general theory that these stars that smoke herb all the time never reach their full potential. The fact that Stackhouse, Sheed, Damon, Webber etc...have never won jack squat in the NBA kind of lends credence to my theory.
so IMO if qyntel wants to hit the pipe he'll never be as good as he could be.

Added Damon Stoudamire: "That was one of the best blocks I have ever seen, because it was a dunk, and he almost caught it with two hands. I have never seen a guy block shots like this. His athleticism is scary."

I've made an effort throughout the year to reserve judgement on Qyntel. Lots of talk about his potential, hard work in practice, and supposedly great skills. What I've seen of him in games, though, has been largely lethargic play interspersed with powerful dunks. It's obvious he is very athletic and can overpower a lot of players, but it isn't yet clear if he can consistently play under control, with effort, and tone down the erratic jumper. If a rookie wants to earn minutes, he shouldn't be shuffling up and down the court, shoulders slumped, looking disinterested...
A lot of that would be written off as typical rookie qualities for most players, but given his admitted marijuana addiction, I've got a bad feeling that it's going to be a long-term uphill battle trying to overcome that apparent lethargy.

i agree with dkap, i find it hard to believe that any player with a drug problem can become a successful player, to me, drug problems are synonymous with a lack of discipline and all the skill in the world does NOT make up for that.
furthermore, it is an extremely bad image to the public, players are only human and we should forgive them for their mistakesif they repent, however having said that, there is a tolerance level and i just feel that the blazers are toeing the line precariously now. some of u guys out there might not have a problem here, but i do have great reservations rooting for players with drug problems.

Q plays like a guy who only get's in when irt's academic. If you don't get a lot of time on the floor, your confidence is shaken, you have no "game rhythem" to rely on. That's what Q looks like. He is used to being the man and now he's an afterthought. He played a total of 334 minutes this season. If he averaged 33 minutes a game that's only 10 games. Hard to establish flow. He also had 29 DNPCD's.
Give hime time, he'll be fine.

to become great, I think this guy needs to work his *** off this offseason. Him and Z... could be the team's future, if they both work at it. Kobe Tmac, aren't this great purely based on talent... these two work their tails off..... does anybody know if any of the blazers are like this? All I know is.. sheed and bonzi came in out of shape last preseason... DA is still skinny as a peg, but damon, pippen... seem to be in good shape.. anybody hear anything about other players in terms of offseason workouts?

Even rookies from "big time" college programs go thru spells when they look lost. "Q" played at a *community college*. In terms of being NBA ready, he is only half a step up from a high-schooler!
If he has shown no progress 12 months from now....then we can start to worry.
