The consensus was Sergio Rodriguez. Trail Blazers' coaches, who have worked with Sergio in individual drills, have been very impressed.

Don't think it has been, I saw it eariler but did not have time to post it.
Sergio may very well be our PG off the bench. Considering the homer bias of Barrett it is still impressive since it is supposed to be the concensus of the players. In these pick-up games though anything goes.
Because of his speed and ball handeling he probably would have an advantage. I really do think we will forget Telfair when he has a chance to run the offense. He truely is a pass first PG at least he was on the Spanish team in the Worlds. He was a true team player and I love his heart and his comraderie with his teamates. May turn out to be the most impressive player we selected in the recent draft.
(can you tell I like him?) I'm trying to find a pix I can use for my Avatar.

Unless he is the second coming of Tony Parker and it looks like we'll have a good shot at the playoffs, I think it would be a mistake to NOT send him to the NBDL. There are four guys who can play point, leaving one or two of them on the bench for entire games would be a shame.
Still, I'm excited about Sergio.

Why would you ever conider sending a player to the D-League when you haven't even seen them play in training camp/preseason? When your team is on the bottom rung of the ladder, you need to look for improvement wherever it might possibliy come from, so no need to quickly stamp him as fit for NBDL duty right now.

Like I said- if he's the second coming of Tony Parker and we have a shot at the playoffs, then keep him here.

That improvement could come from having a guy spend some time in Fort Worth. We know that Nate isn't going to play a guy just to give him experience. If Sergio is up for playing against the top teams, then by all means get him in there. But to play him just to get experience- no matter what I think about that Nate won't do it.
Go Sergio!

After seeing how Ft Worth helped Webster last year, I'm a big believer in the D-league. If Sergio is good enough to gain Nate's confidence and beat out Dickau for backup minutes, then there's no need for Anaheim (our new D-league affiliate). If he isn't getting minutes in Portland though, send him south, so he can get some burn and learn some English.

Re: Blazers' "star of the day" is...
I think Sergio needs time in the NBA. The D-League is more for players like Webster, who needed kind of a wake up call. Sergio did very well in the WBC, and I think he just needs to get used to the NBA game now, and nothing does that better than playing in it.
I think by midway through the season Dickau is the oddman out if he hasn't shown as much as Sergio.
