i think merged threads stink. we have sift through so many different threads to find responses to different ideas and discussions.

it isn't a matter if you like them...we all were asked to not do it and you keep doing it. We all want our posts to be read but making them a new thread just to get them seen is wrong.

It's not as big a deal as some keep making it out to be. Yes, it would be nice not to be spammed with ten different threads on the same topic, but a couple threads on the same topic, who cares? It's great to have a philosophy, it's bad to be compulsive about it.

Two or three threads on a subject people find intensely interesting isn't compulsive.
Getting upset if there's even one extra thread seems compulsive.
As I said, I agree that something like ten threads on the same subject isn't good. However, that's not the case here.

The problem arises when the "two or three threads" (or more) are usually immediately started by one particular poster in question - which leaves the rest in the dust.
But, hey, I'm no saint in this department, either.

One big merged thread on an overwhelming large topic is stupid and defeats the concept of having multiple threads at all.
The bottom line is this:
If a thread is unpopular, no one responds to it and it DISAPPEARS.
If a thread is popular, people responds and should be kept on its own and not thrown in a darn merge.
That simple.
