3 centers, 7 points
pryzbilla was the most disapointing. why exactly did we sign this guy again, because he did absolutely nothing tonight. I hope when aldridge comes back, he at least does something to earn a paycheck. We've been having way to many seasons of centers collecting a paycheck for doing nothing.

Re: 3 centers, 7 points
yeah we won, but the lack of production at the center position will come back to haunt us. we need people to score at every position, and center is where we have the most experience yet the least amount of production.

Re: 3 centers, 7 points
Pryz used to be a rebounding and shot blocking monster. Now he's just a good shot blocker. He is a quality utiilty player and we didn't exactly break the bank for him. But I see a real potential for a guy like LaFrentz to have a bigger impact on this team than a guy like Mags and Joel.
But I have to give credit to Mags tonight, he set good screens, and abused Seattle inside when he got the ball in the post.

Re: 3 centers, 7 points
Except our team has so much more offense at the other positions that the centers do not need to score. 12 rebounds and 5 blocks from the C spot. The team shot 54.8% overall so there's no lack of offensive production.
It's a team game.

I am guessing by your board name that you are a normal board member posting under another name because you did not want to be associated with your post. I would remind you that many centers in the league do not put up good scoring numbers but are good centers, such as Ben Wallace. When I was watching the Chicago vs Miami game yesterday it was best put by Kurt Heimrich. When asked what playing with Ben Wallace is like he responded with this: "Its like playing in the playground when you are growing up, getting beat up by bigger kids and such, and then your big brother shows up, and it all stops."
I expect the same out of our bigs. They are there to be the tough inside presence. Not be the primary scorerers.

How much did Bill Cartwright and Luc Longley score? I think that worked out all right for the Bulls.

Re: 3 centers, 7 points
You also forgot the 5 blocked shots (2 for Joel, 3 for Jamaal). Playing center is about more than scoring - especially when your power forward is lighting it up for 30. Best to just get out of his way and let him do the scoring down low. Down the stretch the Blazers went without a center on offense - alternating Zach on offense and Joel on defense. Given the way they came from behind and closed out the game, I'd say it worked pretty well.

Yea, remember the days with Karl Malone and Mark "4 blocks, 8 rebounds" Eaton? Eaton NEVER scored.

I've seen Magloire play quite a few times with the Hornets and the Bucks, and the guy is an absolute beast when he plays mad.
I don't know if he'll be able to fit in with the Blazers, but he would most definitely be an asset in the right system.

Re: 3 centers, 7 points
You don't need scoring from the 5 when you have a high volume inside threat from your 4. All we need from Pryz and Mags are solid rebounding, interior defense, and some occasional putbacks and open dunks. Or in Raef’s case the ability to draw his man to the perimeter.

Re: 3 centers, 7 points
Actually the Blazers played Zach at center quite a bit last night, so those numbers need to be altered a bit.
