Re: Blazers looking for a point guard?
if Blake does continue to suck doo under Stotts, that could be great news for us. that means he'll probably be available next summer as a free agent when his contract expires at a cheap price. I could definitely see him wanting to come back here for the going market rate--probably something in the $1 mil-$3 mil range. certainly, nobody is going to offer him more than the MLE, and we can match that money if it looks like he's worth it.
I didn't think we'd get Przybilla back, but if it worked once, why not again? Blake would be a real nice backup PG, and allow us to allocate minutes for Roy at his natural position, two guard.

If he sucks so badly, why would Portland want him back?

because he sucks badly under a different coach on a different team. for whatever reason (I've only seen one Bucks game so far, and he didn't get many minutes) he's playing lousy this year. but he proved himself to be a very serviceable backup PG in McMillan's system.
Portland:
FG%: 44%
3FG%: 41%
Assists: 4.5/game
Milwaukee:
FG%: 22%
3FG%: 6%
Assists: 3/game
He may just be in a shooting slump right now, so who knows. but I'd gladly take a bigger point guard who shoots as well as he did in Portland for our bench.

was it stupid last year when people kept making steve blake into a whole lot more than he was? seemed last year blake walked on water and was the next steve nash because um...steve um...apparently resembled nash somehow.

Hap was sarcastically referring to comments by people last year about how Blake could be the next Nash because both were white, small and weren't stars in the NBA from the start.
If I'm recalling the argument correctly.

Re: Blazers looking for a point guard?
I remember Hap saying repeatedly (actually, ad nauseum is a better term) that Blake was overhyped, but I honestly don't remember a lot of posters saying he was the next Steve Nash.
the real debate was who was the best PG among Jack, Telfair and Blake. Jack is winning this one hands down this year, which is funny because most of the heat in that argument came from the Blake and Telfair camps.
funny that Telfair and Blake are completely unremarkable this year. it always makes me feel better about my team's coach when a player (or in this case players) leaves and the player(s) career takes a nose-dive. Nate just seemed to get more out of Blake and Telfair than their new coaches do.

In their defense, Jack remained with the same team while Telfair and Blake are both with new teams.
With regard to Telfair, I kinda feel bad for the guy. He's in his 3rd year and he's already on his 3rd head coach. That's a really difficult way to stick in the league, especially at the point guard position. We'll see if he makes that transition from a speedster to a speedster w/ brain.

Yes, that is a valid consideration, tempered by the significant changes for Jack - half the roster are new players & moving from full time backup to full time starter & moving from combo guard to full time point & lots of roster shuffle due to injuries.
You know the guys Jack has been playing with this season so far.
Last year these were the most common linepus Jack was in:
Telfair-Jack-Patterson-Outlaw-Ratliff
Telfair-Jack-Patterson-Randolph-Ratliff
Dixon-Jack-Patterson-Randolph-Ratliff
Dixon-Jack-Miles-Randolph-Ratliff
Jack-Webster-Patterson-Outlaw-Ratliff
http://www.82games.com/0506/0506POR2.HTM
Lots of changes for Jack. Not as much as going to a new team, but plenty enough to trip up a young player. He is doing fine.
