Blazers looking for a point guard?
http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/ba...p-395954c.html
Toward the end by Brandon Roy's name.
I wonder why. Maybe Nate doesn't have faith in Dickau.

Re: Blazers looking for a point guard?
Considering that Nate plays grahm and Ime, two newbies who were not expected to crack the lineup, before playing Dickau, a former starter, shows that Nate does not like Dickau. I think more then energy, I think Nate is looking for a vet PG who can provide some second unit leadership and help control the tempo.

Dickau hasn't shown much. He can bring the ball up court but thats about it. We really need Roy back soon ;___;

Re: Blazers looking for a point guard?
I don't buy this. Jack is the clear starter, and Roy is the perfect backup for this team. Why do you need another quality point guard? Dickau may not be the answer, but he is third string. And Sergio is in the wings. I call BS on this one.

Re: Blazers looking for a point guard?
I think it's a little early in the season to consider a move like this. Roy is only out for two weeks... so why not give Dickau some PT and see what he can do. He's only played about 25 minutes total this season, hardly enough time to make that type of decision.

Re: Blazers looking for a point guard?
If this is true, (and I agree the source is suspect) It may be more the fact that Nate likes what Dixon brings in terms of offense, but knows that he can't play him with DD, so if Roy misses any games, it also limits Dixon's minutes. So maybe he is looking for a "bigger" veteran back up PG in case Roy is out. I think DD is just fine as a back up, just not with Dixon on the floor.

Re: Blazers looking for a point guard?
Roy's injury is due to playing too many minutes. If Roy is able to put off surgery till the summer, I think Nate will try to limit Roy to 25-30 min per game. Considering that Roy is the starting SG, this means that he will not be backing up Jack as much. Between Jacks youth, Roy's limited playing time, and Dickau's lesser abilities, I think that another PG makes a lot of sense.
We are talking about a PG rental for a year or two, not a core part of the team. This does not mean that Jack is not doing well or that Roy is not going to be the main backup. It just means that with all the injuries this year and last, Nate wants some vet leadership off the bench to steady the second team.
I don;t know about the source, but I think the rumor is very likely to be true.

Well, that's an easy problem to solve, then. Play Dickau, sit Dixon.
I agree with previous posters that Nate just doesn't seem to care for Dickau. Not clear why.
Which is not to say I like Goldmember either. I won't shed any tears if either Dixon or Dickau depart.

Re: Blazers looking for a point guard?
I don't want to gloat, but I will. And go ahead and hate on me for it, I can always go away again for a while.
And mind you I know that source from the NYDN is a joke ... but still ...
Shoulda never traded Blake ... although right now I guess whiny pouty Magloire comes in handy since Joel got kneed in the Przybillas.
Blake is regressing under the incompetent, shouldn't-be-a-head-coach Terry Stotts ... and frankly trading him there might be a career killer having to play for an idiot like Stotts while Blake absolutely FLOURISHED under McMillan's tutelage, so thanks a lot Steve Patterson, for screwing a guy without Vaseline that really wanted to be in Portland and was a good clubhouse/community guy.
I pray for MKE to put Blake on waivers. That would be the only way to reacquire him, assuming Portland wanted a "true" point guard back they shouldn't have dumped to begin with.
There I've said my piece. Deal with it but that's how I feel.
Nevertheless here's hoping Roy comes back soon.

Well with 3 minutes left in the first half, I would say it is a good thing they didn't sit Juan.

Re: Blazers looking for a point guard?
I think Blake will be back next season. Jack isn't the answer and doesn't seem to be able to handle the pressure of being the man at the point. Blake has made it known he likes Portland and considered this to be his team, so if he's given the chance I think he'll choose to come back.
Blake stood out to me often last season, Jack never did. Now Jack is just standing out in the turnover department.
