Joel Freeland: 46 points, 10 rebounds, 4 blocks
Yup, that was his statline yesterday in a 109-106 overtime win of his team Dunas Hotels Gran Canaria versus Caja San Fernando, in the under 20 youngsters competition, where the best youngsters from the ACB teams (spanish top league) play
Complete Statline
46 Points
19/27 2 point FG
1/2 3 point FG
5/5 from the FT line
10 rebs
4 blocks
He also scored a pair of FT that sealed the win.
He is not playing much with the senior team in the ACB, but it seems like a matter of seniority rather than quality.

That's insane. It's probably very weak competition, but still, he must have some skills to do all that. I wonder if he will come over next year.

wow holy shi thats awesome he keeps this up they will have to give him some burn on the big boy team. :P I liked him when he was here for the summer league, he is already ahead of Nedzad and he was pretty smooth.
the english should be pretty good at basketball all you have to do is look at the soccer players like Gorden Ramays :P grant he is a viking Scotsman! :P

I don't know if you saw the summer league games. In limited time Joel looked very skilled. I was a bit shocked, cosidering he hasn't been playing basketball that many years.
Based on that brief look, I am optimistic at Joel's chances for making it in the NBA.

What a great stat line. ACB Teams are pretty good too. Makes me very happy to dream about the Blazers future.

WOW! This draft just keeps looking better all the time. First Roy and now Aldridge ready to contrinute this season, with Sergio and Freeland looking like they will contribute a year or two down the road.

I wonder how ACB junior teams compare to AAU HS teams. Regardless it's a great statline and at 19 he's not that far removed from HS aged players.

I think in 10 years we may refer to this past draft as "The Draft that Saved the Franchise."

These are all players who play professionally and earn a living playing basketball. I think it's more akin to collegiate NCAA players. More specifically, I think the talent level could be compared to the average team that makes it to the big dance in March.

Why wait 10 years... Even without Sergio and Freeland, and even before LaMarcus Aldridge's successful NBA debut, Brandon Roy alone was helping turn the team around, bringing back fans and getting the team lots of positive attention in the national media. Consider the franchise saved.
Even if only 1 of our 4 first round becomes a future all-star, it's the best Blazers draft in 20 years. If we end up with two above average starting caliber players and two solid role players, it will be the most successful draft in franchise history. If we end up with two all-stars, including the best big man and the best guard in the draft, and two solid rotation players, it will be an insanely successful draft.

He's currently playing on his clubs junior team (there were 16 year olds in that game), if I'm not mistaken the max age in that group is 21?
