Is it time to trade Zach now?
Zach is on a roll right now. Almost player of the week. Do we trade him now since his stock is high? Would Minnesota right now consider trading Zach for KG?
Would they do this?
Throw in $3 mil in cash and a draft pick if need be.
Randolph is on a roll. KG said he is a handful.
They get salary relief in Jamaal and get potential talent in Miles. Dickau can help at the PG spot where they need help.
We keep Roy as PG and move Jack to backup PG. Hassell becomes a prominent role player
PG Roy, Jack, Rodriquez
SG Webster, Hassell, Dixon
SF Outlaw, Udoka, Graham
PF Garnett, Lefrentz
C Aldridge, Przybilla
Next year oden and Mason are added

Don't trade Zach. Low post scorers like that are hard to find.

Re: Is it time to trade Zach now?
if Minnesota would actually consider that deal we should do it in a heartbeat.
Zach's going to need at least 20 games of his current level of performance before anyone will believe it's for real. I'd certainly consider all options at that point, although there's certainly no reason to hurry to trade him.

Re: Is it time to trade Zach now?
Its been noted on ESPN, Garnett wants to stay in Minny. This would be a stupid trade since Zack is on a roll now and theres chemistry going on with the team. Plus, Portland has lost money with Miles being in rehab. Why would Portland like to be more in the hole?

Re: Is it time to trade Zach now?
I think we need to ride the Z-train until a deal for a clearly-superior player materializes.
However, IMO, there are no "clearly-superior" players in the entire league right now. And please do NOT mention Kobe "All Kobe All The Time, Twenty-Four Seven Kobe Heaven" Bryant. Throwing him into this mix would be like tossing a hand-grenade into a fuel tanker.

Re: Is it time to trade Zach now?
Though Portland is 4-3, they're still technically the worst team in basketball (esp. at this early point in the season).
We'll need to finish the season like the Hornets in order to attract a KG or a similar caliber vet. Those types of guys need to be convinced that a championship run is brewing.

????
This Portland team is far better than Charlotte and Seattle and is on a par with: Milwaukee, Boston, Orlando, Atlanta, Washington and the Knicks.

And stars go to teams like Miami, San Antonio, Dallas, Phoenix and Detroit.
Regarding your notion that Portland is a lot better this season: that may be, but as it stands there are 75 games left. It's very early.
They've played one upper caliber team (Dallas) and had to come back from double-digit deficits almost nightly.
I agree, they are better, but this team is young and they will struggle a lot this season, especially with their injuries. If Dixon doesn't hit that 3 vs. Minny and Chandler isn't ejected in the Hornets game, Portland is 2-5 and we're talking about Oden and Durant today, not the 'most surprising team in basketball'.
I'm very excited about the team this year, but the jury is way out until they get back to full strength. Until then, let's just be cautiously optimistic about the scrap and hustle they're displaying.

Why the hell would we trade one of the most unstoppable players in the NBA right now?

Haven't you heard??? Didn't you get the encrytped memo? Its part Stern's conspiracy to destroy the Blazers and piss of the people of Portland so Paul Allen can move the team to St. Louis.

and if joel keeps his balls against GS, and roy is 100% in the other 2 losses we might be 7-0. works both ways.

No, the league office is closed. We'll have to wait until morning.

Re: Is it time to trade Zach now?
If you could get a player of Garnetts caliber for Zach you do it. Zach has had a good run but he is still a horrible defender and a horrible passer. He does not create opportunities for teammates and has trouble with the offense running through him. He does have an amazing ability at times getting high percentage shots off.
I don't think Garnett would accept a trade to Portland, not to mention Minnesota wouldn't do it. Zach could probably fetch someone like T. Prince but not an MVP candidate. The Blazers will probably have to keep Zach and hope he continues to work hard. But they should definitely keep an ear open to what offers are out there.
