OT: Wireless Portland
Anyone try out the Portland's new wireless network?
What parts of Portland has it? I'm out in Gresham so I'm pretty sure it doesn't work out here. Be neat to drive around Portland and be able to get on this board while my wife is shopping or something.

As of now I believe it's downtown and the lloyd centre district.

Re: OT: Wireless Portland
I tried it yesterday. I was in big pink downtown and the signal was fairly weak. The connection was too slow for my liking. I tried to use skype and was unable to communicate correctly. I was able to check my email and visit other websites as long as speed wasn't an issue.
I think it may take years before the system works smoothly and rapidly.

Re: OT: Wireless Portland
I just heard on the news only 250 people can connect right now!
Oh, well, I don't have a laptop yet anyway.

Re: OT: Wireless Portland
I think they just unveiled it in downtown (centered around Pioneer Courthouse Square). They're going to expand as time goes on, but that's just where it debuted.

Here's the bottom line:
If you have an issue with where a post should or should not be, PM a mod. Do not hijack a thread.
All these posts about what should or should not go into the OT sub-forum have been split into a new thread. Any more posts about this will also be split off.
Here's the thread to continue talks of what should be moved to where: http://www.basketballforum.com/showthread.php?t=322396

Re: OT: Wireless Portland
only covers a 2.5 miles square of downtown basically centered somewhere near Pioneer Square. Was able to pick it up on my laptop yesterday though. Pretty slow but still cool that it's free.
