If the 2007 NBA draft were held today

We are tied with Charlotte and Memphis for the most losses in the league with 13

Lets say the ping pong balls go against us and we pick 3rd in the draft. Memphis is #1, and Charlotte #2

2007 NBA draft

What would you do?

Draft at #3? and who would you pick?

Trade up and pick who?

Make another trade get another draft pick in a very deep draft and pick where? and who?

Any other ideas?

I assume Oden will be taken at #1 by Memphis
Charlotte thinks about Durant.... maybe Wright, maybe Noah
I would make some kind of trade from #3 to #2 and pick Durant. Maybe giving them Outlaw to backup Wallace at SF.

PG Jack, Rodriguez, Dickau
SG Roy, Webster, Dixon
SF Durant, (Webster), Miles
PF Randolph, LeFrentz
C Aldridge, Przybilla

MLE in July Mason

Trade Miles for a bag of popcorn

What is your draft scenario right now?

Re: If the 2007 NBA draft were held today

I'd draft Brandan Wright from UNC. Trade Zach for for a SF. (Someone like Deng)

Jack
Roy
Deng
Wright
Aldridge

Bench

Joel
Dergio
Webster
Outlaw

That's a great team in a year or two.

That team is a little too up temposih for Nate though, so I don't think that Portland will do that.

Re: If the 2007 NBA draft were held today

technically we have the 6th worst winning percentage, so the ping pongs would have to bounce our way to pick at #3

At #3 It would be a toss up between B. Wright and Budinger who has really been impressive so far.

Memphis could pull a San Antoinio, in having their best player hurt for the season, having a terrible record, drafting the best player, then getting a great tandem out of it.

at #3, i'd pick B. Wright. still way too early though. but oden and Durant are pretty much locks for the #1 and #2 spots.

I'd take Budinger if he were to enter this year, but if not, Wright would be my pick too.

Re: If the 2007 NBA draft were held today

First I'd try to trade up for Durant. Charlotte chose Morrison to be their SF of the future; they have no room for Durant.

If that didn't work out Bill Walker would be the obvious choice. He's expected to challenge the NBA in court and will likely win.

Brandan Wright is reportedly lazy and doesn't give full effort. If Portland wants to do something new with the PF spot they need to break the mold. They shouldn't take yet another unmotivated PF.

Re: If the 2007 NBA draft were held today

Interesting post. The sad thing is if Oden does not enter the draft or if the Blazers pick third they will probably miss out on a team changing megastar. Trading Outlaw wont help unless the Bobcats are dead set on not drafting a SF. I would guess they take the best player available and tell us to kick rocks unless we add Sergio and maybe our 08 pick to sweeten the deal. I would still trade our 08 pick, Sergio, and Outlaw for Durant.

If we cant trade up to get Durant then I usally lean towards taking the best player available and most likely that is Wright. another PF. I don’t see the blazers trading back and scoring two picks either. With the exception of Thaddeus Young who might not enter the draft I don’t see many game changing SF’s although you know if we traded back and grabbed these two guys they would probably be upgrades over Outlaw and Pryzbilla. They would certainly improve our D.

Re: If the 2007 NBA draft were held today

theres gonna be some great players avaliable at 10-20. i think we should try and get a pick out of magliore, or possibly trade pryz if he can net us a pick in the late lottery.

Re: If the 2007 NBA draft were held today

Brandan Wright is a solid thrid option if we don't get Oden or Durant. He needs to bulk up a bit, but he's a lefty with a nice touch and freaky athleticsm.

Unless Webster turns into Dale Ellis that team cant score.
