At least we have some light at the end of the tunnel (Take Two)

Put him in the post...He'll dream shake you..isolate him...he'll blow by you...leave him open...he'll bury the J...double team him...He'll find the open man. I can't believe how good he is and he is only getting better.
Aldridge looks so smooth shooting that jumper. He really is a young Sheed without the mental issues. He should post up more, but he and Roy should run a ton of high pick n rolls, it'd be unstoppable. That baby hook on the baseline was a thing of beauty and it can't be blocked. I absolutely love his hustle. The kid brings it every night. I think he just needs to work on his defensive technique and timing on shot blocks, then he'll be a complete player. Seriously, what other team has 2 young players in the making of Roy and Aldridge? We are very lucky. Not to mention Martell is going to be the Glen Rice in this Shaq and Kobe trio. If we use him like Detroit uses Rip, he is money. He is still 19 and raw but he can shoot. Once he assures himself defensively and becomes more of a creator on offense, he'll be a legit star in this league. He is the perfect piece to the puzzle considering we are building around LMA and BRoy. There will be brighter days in Portland an we jsut have to get used to these bumps and bruises along teh way, because sometime soon we will be the class of the NBA with these 3 leading the way.
Let's keep this one on topic.

Despite the horrible loss last night, I noticed that Martell was stepping it up, that Roy (in the first half, at least) has several tools that, if polished, could become absolutely dangerous, and that LaMarcus has a silky smooth game for a guy who wasn't supposed to do anything until Year Three.

After last night, it makes me yearn for the days when Magloire and Dixon are gone. More minutes for Sergio, Aldridge, and Webster.

I wonder if Allen's decision making regarding a trade will be at all affected by the play of his youthful core last night? Notice he was in attendance last night...

Another couple things I liked in the box score of last nights' game:

Jack- 11 assists
Webster- 7 rebounds
Randolph- 2 steals

I think you'll see more of these threads as the year goes on. Roy, Aldridge, Jack and Martell seem to be very easy to root for for most people. They hustle, try to play both ends of the floor, and are "underdogs" because of their age. There is a huge light at the end of the tunnel IMO......Turn em lose Nate

Light coming from the end of the tunnel?? Yes, it is!!

Roy, Webster, Jack and Aldridge all in double figures scoring last night. All making an impact for limited minutes. Signs of things to come!!!

Seems like deja-vu from about 1986ish. Young Porter, experienced Clyde, raw Kersey and Duck.

Great news Blazers fans: We're going to have another top 10 pick this summer too!

Thanks for caring, but no. It was well north of me. Think Powell to the Columbia River. Just another thing to mess up traffic. I do believe it's cleared by now however, so that's good.

Re: At least we have some light at the end of the tunnel (Take Two)

I agree that the future is bright- we have potential future studs at every position- it's just a matter of patience. Jack and Sergio will develop into a terrific combination at the 1. Brandon Roy has the 2 locked down. Maybe Webster or Outlaw will emerge at the 3. Zach has the 4 down pat and Aldridge looks to be a good 5.

We just have to relax and enjoy the ride!

The only one I disagree with is Zach. He's still way too pathetic on defense, and for whatever reason seems to think scoring and rebounding are all that matter.

Re: At least we have some light at the end of the tunnel (Take Two)

When are we going to see a SL of Jack,Roy,Martell,Zach,LMA? Also if LMA keeps up his minutes he will psot some very solid rookie year stats and as Roy continues to improve and becomes more game tested after the surgery his numbers are going to skyrise and run away with the ROY.

I see Zach as kind of a poor man's Barkley. A very valuable piece, but you need defenders around him.

I think he's better at trying to defend this year...

Maybe a welfare version of Barkley. Barkely was a great leader, and a hall of famer. He was also willing to step in front of offensive players and at least try to take a charge. Zach's idea of defense is hoping someone else gets a foul so he can stay in the game to put up his numbers.

But like I said, everything else is right on. We have an amazing core of players that given time will compete for the championship sooner rather than later.

Bigot. Bigot. Bigot.

I also knew mediocre man wasn't going to allow this topic to exist unmolested. MM can not allow good thoughts and hope about the Blazers to exist. He had to toss another grenade on another thread where good things about the Blazers were being discussed.
