When you put it that way, it actually starts making some sense. Batista and Stoudemire would probably be waived or let walk at the end of the season. We'd save a few bucks on the reduced salary this year, and have Wright with his relatively cheap contract next season. At that price, he's a decent backup FC.
It would still allow us to keep Outlaw and get a top draft pick without going over the tax threshold. It's not a great deal, but considering it's Magloire we're talking about here, it's not a bad one either. It's basically just swapping our expiring clumsy center for one who is cheaper but has another year. Some probably hope that we get more for Magloire, but what team wants to give us more?

Just because Roy can handle the ball does not mean the Blazers should dump Sergio (a unique talent) or Jack (potentially a Top 10 point).

I second that. Roy is a shooting guard, and the only good one we have. Why do so many want to make him a full-time point guard?

As of right now...yes.
hy·poth·e·sis
1. a proposition, or set of propositions, set forth as an explanation for the occurrence of some specified group of phenomena, either asserted merely as a provisional conjecture to guide investigation (working hypothesis) or accepted as highly probable in the light of established facts.
2. a proposition assumed as a premise in an argument.
3. the antecedent of a conditional proposition.
4. a mere assumption or guess.
Thanks for caring enough to wonder.

Re: POR\WAS\ATL trade rumor
Because I like Josh Childress' game (shoots such high fg % and ft % and seems to be a good rebounder and supposedly has good basketball IQ); here is a variant on this trade.
