Interesting..(or: who's stats are these?)

Ok, we have the huge debate over Zach being "worth it or not"..but who's stats are these (hint: it's a PF. Another hint, he's been a bit injury plagued).

A shade under 23 points, 12 boards, .3 blocks, shooting 56% from the floor and 3 assists a game.

It's interesting to look at the stats, and not realize the player who's behind them.

Any guesses?

That'd be Utah's PF. I wish we could package Zach for AK47, but Boozer makes Zach redundant.

The drunk in Utah is my guess, the next two would be KG or T-Mac?

Re: Interesting..(or: who's stats are these?)

It's Boozer. My point was that Zach's stats aren't nearly as impressive as people think. I think Boozer is playing much better than Zach, and I wouldn't say that Boozer is one of the better PF's in the western conference.

I also doubt most Zach fans here think of Carlos Boozer on the same level as they do Zach.

Re: Interesting..(or: who's stats are these?)

Aaah but then the question, where do they differ? Well that is an easy one to answer. Zbo has to dominate the ball in order to get his statistics. Boozer gets his without the domination. Almost everything in Utahs offense is set up by (Drumroll please) Deron Williams! The ball keeps moving, and a lot of points come off creation (Thus the higher field goal percentage) rather then one on one.

Boozer is a solid player, but why in the world does he get a bigger role in the offense than Kirilenko? Taking a look at shots per game, I'm even more baffled...

Boozer 16.3
Williams 14.3
Okur 12.5
Harping 8.1
Fisher 7.3
Kirilenko 6.3

I understand why Kirilenko is unhappy.

Re: Interesting..(or: who's stats are these?)

Would our pick, Magloire, & Dixon be enough to get back AK47? With him, we won't have as high a pick, so it might be worth it. Would they do that? I'd much rather get rid of Zach than the pick, but with Boozer already there, he wouldn't fit in.

Larry Miller-their owner- says that Kirelinko is on "thin ice" after AK's complaining of his role on that team.

hahaha, hap this is getting out of hand. we all know u dislike zach. but it's getting old now, your trying everything to put Zach down. you did the same thing with darius. seems like u always have a scapegoat. if Zach leaves, who will u bash next? you ever watch Boozer play? he is just as bad, maybe even worst then Zach on defense. he's awful. Coach sloan has said a few times how soft he is. i know your trying to compare them, saying how Zach isn’t as good. look how many players in the nba are good defenders? name them. lots of players in the nba aren’t good defenders. That’s where team defense comes in. to say that Zach has been in the league for about 5 yrs now, and that’s why u bash him when there is worst defenders on our team. that doesn’t make any sense. there are tons of bad defenders in this league, that are all stars and have been in the league as while, that aren’t good at defense.

dislike him for the teams future. It's not the same as disliking him.

I did? And if so, how exactly did that turn out now? Seems to me, Darius has shown to be a waste of skin.

That was kind of my point.

Producing stats (23-10) does not show the whole picture.

I wasn't saying Zach isn't as good, but Boozer IS shooting a lot better, and averaging more rebounds.
As for the defenders, I'd say:

Kirelenko, Rasheed, Ben Wallace, Duncan, Brand, Bowen, Kobe (well, when he wants to), Jermaine just off the top of my head. But if you want to go based on who plays better defense than Zach, that list is a lot longer.

are they blazers? Nope. I don't care how other players do, I care how Blazer players do. Most of the players in the league who are "top tier" players pay noticeably better defense than Zach.

Why is it that certain fans refuse to see that? Are you asleep during the times when he doesn't stay between his man and the hoop and he drives by him?

That's a horribly structured argument. Boozer has been one of the most dominant big men in the league this year. His stats being comparable to Zach's says nothing about Zach being overrated. Not in the direction you're implying, at least.

I can't wait for your page long response...

it says that stats don't tell the whole story.

Re: Interesting..(or: who's stats are these?)

Your premise is that Zach is overrated because Boozer has similar stats to Zach and Boozer is overrated. For that to work, you've got to provide some semblance of evidence that Boozer is overrated. I call b.s. He's been very difficult for opposing players to hold in check and his team is still among the best in the league, despite cooling considerably, and easily the biggest surprise of the year.

What story are the stats not telling? Other than the one about Hap hating Zach, of course.
