Re: "Early Returns": Rating the Class of 2005 (Martell)
These are players who are the same age as Martell; I was simply ranking them by PPG, and then noting the next batch of players (now sophomores in college) who will be coming out in the next few years.
Verdict? Martell still has some time before we can label him anything beyond 'young and talented'.

At the same time, he has a long time before we can label him a bust.

It's like one of those hidden 3-d pictures, where if you hold it a certain distance from your face and cross your eyes, then all of a sudden you see it.
And then you wonder why you are such a sucker for such things. Because the hidden image is never a thing of any great beauty.

Re: "Early Returns": Rating the Class of 2005 (Martell)
the square root of 2005 is greater than or equal to the cosine of the 2007 sophomores, therefore Martell needs more time

Re: "Early Returns": Rating the Class of 2005 (Martell)
^^ What?
um...you can't have a cosine of 2007. It's not possible. The ln however....is. So I agree, Martell does need more time.
I see him as only a starter though. I hope I'm wrong.

Re: "Early Returns": Rating the Class of 2005 (Martell)
I guess the point really is that Bynum, Gerald Green and Tyrus Thomas are all the same age as Webster and are generating (roughly) the same number of points per game as Webster.
it's not a bad point. I've found myself getting down on Webster lately (his stats were actually better after last year's All Star break than they are now). but he's only a kid--he's not even old enough to buy alcohol yet.
we're probably another year (at least) before we know whether he was a decent pick. and Rodriguez and Jack take some of the sting off of passing on Chris Paul.

Re: "Early Returns": Rating the Class of 2005 (Martell)
I still think Webster will be a solid player. Not as good as Paul or Williams.....who we could have drafted, but 15-18 points a game good. More if he gets more aggressive.

Re: "Early Returns": Rating the Class of 2005 (Martell)
I understand this post completely. It's kids who graduated HS in 2005, regardless of whether or not they are in the NBA. So, instead of comparing Martell to the people in his NBA Draft class, he's being compared to other NBA Players the same age as him.
Cool idea.

Ahh so HS Class of 2005 not draft class of 2005...Now it makes much more sense.
