THAT'S exactly why Outlaw would suck in the dunk contest
Just a complete lack of confidence in every facet. Look at all the great dunkers. They all go up with confidence and know what they're going to do with the ball before they leave their feet. Travis, on the other hand, has the ability on the last play of regulation to just pack it with nobody even guarding him. Instead, he goes up and then tries some nancy-boy finger roll crap at the last second.
Send the guy down to the D-League. I wouldn't be upset if they guy never saw the floor again in a Blazer uniform. Absolutely zero redeeming qualities as a player. Might be the dumbest player in the league in terms of basketball IQ.
Another blown game that we should have won. If you count all the eastern conference teams we've lost to at home that we should have beaten, I count at least 8 games that we should have won this year that we gave away. We'd be above .500 if we win those games. Wasn't Nate McMillan supposed to be a coach who would get us wins where we should have had losses, and not the other way around? Outlaw blew it in regulation today, but McMillan was completely outcoached in the OT.

Outlaw should have dunked it, but you can't blame the game on him. We played ****ty D and got off to a slow start yet again.
You're making yourself look like a fool starting a thread like this.

Outlaw missed a lay-up - but I don't think he would have been able to dunk it anyways with Amare closing. Probably would have got fouled though. Your assesment of TO is way harsh. "Zero redeming qualities as a player?" Up until he missed that lay-in, I thought he was playing well: making good decisions with the ball, not forcing bad shots or simply holding the ball too long . . . it made me think he's ready to take minutes away from Martell in the rotation. He actually made some plays with his head tonight, and I loved the aggression he's bringing on defense now - it's actually starting to resemble a solid defensive player. You couldn't say that about him in previous years.

Travis made one bad mistake the whole night. Other than that, he played smart, heady, scrappy ball. Missed lay-up aside, he showed me a lot in terms of development tonight.

Really, because I could swear it would have been 98-96 Blazers with 1 second left if he actually dunked it.
Fool or not, the fact remains that Outlaw has been in the league for four years now, and he still is the picture of inconsistency.
Oh, and by the way, pretty much consider the guy a lost cause from here on out. After choking that hard, the kid's confidence will be shattered.
Pathetic.

Sadly we can't. You can only send dudes down to the D League in their first two years. Outlaw has been in the NBA for 3 years although you couldn't tell that from his unpolished, awkward game. He took some truly awful jumpshots that were critical to our loss tonight,.

This is among the lamest posts I've ever read. And I've read a lot of crap lately.
The kid missed a shot. Big ****ing deal. That happens. Michael Jordan blew a game winning dunk once. What does that prove?
I understand, you're frustrated. So am I. Probably a lot of people are. But not everybody blows their top and thrashes a guy who was actually one of the few players who was working his *** off on the court. Your post shows that you have the patience of an ADHD child.
Pathetic, even for this board.

Re: THAT'S exactly why Outlaw would suck in the dunk contest
I said the same thing earlier in a post where someone was complaining that he was 'jipped' out of the dunk contest. He can jump high, but he's not a good dunker, and is prone to be clumsy and lacks coordination. He'd be horrible in the dunk contest.
Ever since he's been here, he's botched opportunities when he finds himself an open lane. It's like he gets so excited that he panics and can't control himself.
He still has the potential to be very good, but I don't think he'll ever get the mental aspect down, because he's quite frankly plays like a "basketball retard". Nothing personal, he just doesn't have it upstairs.

How many wide open jumpshots did he miss tonight? Six?
I'm seriously tired of wasting a roster spot on a guy who has obviously hit his development cap.

Take out the missed lay-up and he was 4/9 from the field, for a FG% of 44%. It's not like he was throwing up bricks shot after shot.
Are you seriously going to ignore his 6 rebounds (4 offensive) and 3 steals? It's not like he was loafing out there tonight.

Re: THAT'S exactly why Outlaw would suck in the dunk contest
Travis Outlaw reminds me of what you may get if transplated a guy of the streets brain into Michael Jordan's body. He acts like he really doesn't know how to play the game but you see enough from time to time to get keep you excited.
Not sure if either he or Martel Brickster are the future at SF.

He took 10 shots. One was the blown layup. One was a tip that didn't go in. He made 4 shots. So, he missed 4. If the game was dependant on 4 shots, it would be 10 minutes long, not 48.
How many shots did the Golden Boy miss? He blew probably 4 or 5 lay-ups tonight and bricked a ton of outside shots. Jack couldn't hit anything. Webster didn't do much, aside from the big three at the end. Aldridge was flat out terrible on both ends of the court. Magloire was Magloire. Dixon sucked. etc, etc, etc
The TEAM lost this game, not one player.
