Time to Tank
I think its officially time to start rooting for losses. I kept holding out hope we could still make the playoffs, but we keep losing games we we should have won. Now there is no chance for the playoffs, and this might be the best draft in the last 10 years. Nate should really start planning for next season. He should start Outlaw at sf, he should start Sergio at pg, and start Lamarcus at C. Let them develop for next year. No more of this Magloire/Dixon bs, and also let Sergio show what he can do. Jack is mediocre at best. If we land Oden, Durant or Noah we will have all the peices for a championship team. So play the young guys Nate!

Re: Time to Tank
They're still on pace for nearly 33 wins, though.
Portland is going to play a lot of games against some really good teams down the stretch -- they still have road games against the Lakers, Utah, Denver, Chicago, Minnesota, Dallas, San Antonio, Houston and Washington. Not to mention home games against San Antonio, Golden State (a horrible match-up for us), Utah, etc ...
So it's not like I think they have much of a choice in tanking.

Re: Time to Tank
Tanking isn't a choice. It's almost inevitable with the Zbo-oriented offense and pathetic perimeter shooting.

Re: Time to Tank
"Tank" has a pretty horrible connotation, and I don't think it's what you mean. The Blazers should not throw games. They should not play underperforming players with a worse record as one of the goals.
They should focus on developing young talent - but that's been a pretty major focus of this season, anyway. And as wastro points out (above), the Blazers are going to lose a bunch of games this winter and spring...

Great idea if you want to tank. Except, that you should start Jack at PG insted of Sergio if you want to tank. Actually, the key is to find the proper balance between tanking and maintaining Blazer fans interest in the team.
PG- Jack/Rodriguez
SG- Roy/Webster
C- Joel/LA
PF- Randolph/LA
SF-Outlaw/Udoka

Re: Time to Tank
the way we are playing atm tanking is not even necessary, at least currently we are able to play with the hope of winning!

Re: Time to Tank
I really want a top 3 pick, but man I hate losing. It'd be sad if we don't improve al ittle bit with 3 rookies and the rookie of the year....What next? If we don't get the big 3 in this draft, do we continue to hope to tank for the next big thing? Personally I hope we tear it up the last 2 months and jumpstart our 07-08 season, but one of the big 3 would be nice...I'm torn.

Re: Time to Tank
I think our future is in the draft and making smart, crafty moves. I wouldn't mind see us lose but still be competitive in each game.
I miss Sergio.
