ThatBlazerGuy,

14 points and 7 assists would be a top 10 NBA point guard.

Luke is more of a pure point, while Dan is mostly just a tremendous shooter. Luke is also a little bit taller. I doubt he'll experience a similar drop in this draft.

Yeah, I am not for this trade AT ALL. But it was out there so I thought I would post it. This seems to me to be a Whitsitt kind of trade though. Getting Payton and the #8 for essentially Zach (Sabas is just to make salaries match and let Gary gte his extension at bigger $$). Allowing Payton to be added to Wells, Wallace, Pip, DA, & Davis and then draft a good player at #8 (and I agree with Ed, Wade has looked real good, even if he is only 6'4). This would be once again, trading away young talent to try and win with the core group we have now. I think this is the WRONG way to go. But, Bob loathes starting over, and has never been keen on rebuilding through the draft, which is ironic to me, since they seem to have a good record of whom they do draft.

Lastly, this whole GM thing is starting to smeel rank. I am not a fan of Canzano particulary, but he made some very good points. Just what in the hell are the Blazers doing? We should have a GM in place by now, helping to prepare for the draft. Especially if Bob, had been planning this for awhile, as he says he has. So far I am EXTREMELY dissapointed in the way and pace this search has been conducted. The not extending Cheeks bugs me a little too. I hope they are just waiting to have a new GM in place before they give him an extension.

Rid is another Dickau? Are you kidding me? Rid's a MUCH better NBA prospect then Dickau. Rid is a pure point guard not a shooting guard in a point guards body. There is a reason his stock has been going up in the draft. Teams are starting to look at film and realize he could be a VERY good NBA pg in a couple years after he adds some strength.

Ridnour > Dickau

And it isnt even close!

PS: This doesnt mean I want this deal to happen. I really think we need to keep ZR unless we get a young SUPER STAR in return.

BlazerFan4Life, No... I like the ZAGS, always cheer for them in the tourney, but they normally don't play against the same kind of competition the Ducks do night in and out.

Payton

Do we REALLY want Payton? Do you really think he would be happy playing here? I have spent MANY years hating him since watching him play highschool and college basketball. Soon as he became a Sonic he became the ENEMY!!! That being said if you want my opinion LETS GET HIM!

Gary Payton is a FA. He can't be traded until he's signed. And signing comes after the draft.

(Or can teams try and re-sign their players before the draft? Either way, Payton won't re-sign with Milwaukee.)

Luke is a Larry Bird type of player. I predict he is going to hit the nba with a big splash!

I just posted this on the Sabas thread......but the report I read said:

Ruben, Dale and our 1st rd pick for GP in a sign and trade

That makes sense....they have needed a center forever (Dale is more of a center in the east then the west)......Ruben would give them the energy and someone that doesn't want to throw up 3's every second that their whole team currently employs and there is no way they would give up Zach.....not for that type of deal.

Not to down grade your team but Dale fine Zebo I want to stay. The guy has tons of upside and in my opinion IS our PF for the future. Sheed is as much as gone as far as I am concerned. I defended him for years I want something new"

I really do not like that scenario. But Davis has been mentioned a lot over the years to Milwaukee... I guess I still hope for GP as a MLE... but if they want Patterson and (McInnis or Damon or ?) , yes, but not Davis or Zach or Sheed or Wells. save them for later on potential trades
