Schilly's Crazy Scenario!
OK hear me out here...
There has been word that Jermaine may want to return to PDX, especially considering the old management squad is gone. Imagine if you will that Portland works out a S&T agreement with Indiana.
Portland Trades
Damon Stoudamire
Zach Randolph
Indiana Trades
Jermaine O'Neal
Jonathon Bender
Then...Gary Payton is interested in coming to Portland, but in order to lock him up a S&T is necessary.
Portland trades
Rasheed Wallace
Portland recieves
Gary Payton
Tim Thomas
#8 pick (Lampe, Kaman, Hayes, Barbosa)
Portland
PG Payton/McInnis
SG Wells/Anderson
SF Thomas/Woods/Bender
PF O'Neal/Cook(#23)
C Davis/Kaman(#8)/RBB
Portland probably looks to move Patterson + Anderson(or Wells) so Woods becomes the backup SG.
Just random thoughts.

I dont think that enough to get BOTH Jermaine AND Bender. (Bender more for potential).

If there was a chance to not only get Jermaine O'Neal and Gary Payton AND the #8 pick...all without losing Woods or Wells?
Too good to be true.

I wouldn't be surprised if they traded Damon to the Pacers for like..Croshere and Bender (+ filler?)
Rasheed to the Raptors for #4 and Davis (and Dog)...(mainly so they can get either Pavel or Carmelo).
Bonzi to Chicago for a player + their #7 pick.
Then we could get Pavel, Ridnour, and sign Payton...
ok, thats probably a little high for Ridnour, but so what?
*btw, I realize this is quite unrealistic, and doesn't give us any "star" player (not that we have one now anyway). It also doens't make us too glamourous for Payton either. I also realize that these trade scenarios probably would mean no Payton. So if thats the case, thats the case. Also, I have no suggestion for where Patterson goes"

Yuck, I wouldn't want to touch kaman at #8 with a 10ft pole. He looks like the latest big white stiff to enter the league. Draft Lampe (not sure about him either, but like him better than Kaman FOR SURE), if he is there or better yet Wade, and then look to deal DA and Rube (who I gotta believe is gone). As for #23 Cook is a good prospect, but supposedly has an attitude? problem.
The trades? Id offload Zach for Oneal and Bender.
Wallace for Payton, Thomas and #8, is ok I guess, I know a lot of people are high on this deal, I am not. Thomas is an erratic player with a nasty contract. Payton is nice, for how many years though? and at what cost? He won't come cheaply, that is for sure. I don't see this team as that significantly better than the one we have now.

Ummm...ok well I'm not necessarily locked on Kaman, it is possible that Pavel could be available. I personaly would take a shot on Lampe.
BTW I'm kinda thinking like you about Kaman Kmurph, mostly I just filled in a name

I'll pass on both deals. Zach is better then JO,you know he is and he would put up better #'s in the EAST then JO,and no reason to trade Sheed for GP n TT when it is rumored that Patterson and Damon could get it done for those 2.

If I could do the first trade, I would in a heartbeat, and I wouldn't do the second trade, Wallace for Payton, Thomas and the #8 pick.
Pairing two big men as skilled as Jermaine O'Neal and Rasheed Wallace is of incalculable worth. I'd do it if Payton were a decade younger, but not to get two more quite good years out of him.
I point out to Payton that with Wallace and O'Neal, he'd have an excellent chance to win big in Portland and that Portland was willing to offer him the full midlevel exception, which is a fair amount in this age of teams being reluctant to give it to one player. But this contract isn't about getting him market worth. It's about getting him a decent amount of cash to win and to stuff it down Seattle's throat.
If that didn't work, I'd be willing to offer Wells or DA to get him. But I don't deal O'Neal or Wallace. That duo would be the best front court in the league.

Amen to that. If Indy was so kind as to send Jermaine back to P-Town for so little, you don't spit on the gift by breaking up a fabulous Front Line.
And why get Thomas to be a 6'10" guy jacking up 3's, when we have Sheed to do that already?

BTW I am going on the premise that Portland has leverage as Jermaine is sayingto Indy "get the deal done or I'll look elsewhere"

Zach Randolph only carried us on his back in the playoffs and you want to trade him?????
