Hap's Crazy trade ideas!
Portland trades:
Rasheed Wallace, Ruben Patterson and Jeff McInnis, pick #23 to
the Raptors for Antonio Davis, Alvin Williams, Jerome Williams + #4 pick.
Obivous downside: A Davis's contract is bad, and has 3 more years. Good: Alvin Williams is a tall PG, who's the son of a cop, a well respected young man, and not a dumbidgit.
Why Toronto wouldn't do it: They probably wouldn't *want* Patterson and McInnis. Why they might: They NEED some young talent who can get their crowd excited, and not have to be the main guy. I also doubt they'd want to give up Alvin, but come on Toronto..Rasheed is better than the 3 players AND the draft pick..
Portland gets #4 pick and takes either Anthony or Pavel, who ever is left.
Damon to
the Pacers for E Strickland, Croshere, and Bender (understand, I know this is really unfair to Indiana).
Strickland instantly waived.
And as much as this sickens my innards...
Bonzi (+ 2 1st rounders over 5 years) to the Wizards for # 10 and Stackhouse.
Stackhouse then immediately traded to the Bulls (in a 3 way trade) for Crawford, Hoiberg, Bargaric, and Blount all to Portland. *Forgot the #7 pick from the Bulls. I don't know who we take here. Anyone?*
Bargaric and Blount waived.
So...the team would then be..
C: Dale Davis: Pavel (#4 pick) Ruben Boumtje Boumtje
PF: Antonio Davis: Zach Randolph Croshere
SF: Jerome Williams: Bender
PG: Alvin Williams: J Crawford,
2G: Derek Anderson: Q Woods
Ridnour and Hoiberg on IR
And the 10 pick: Ridnour
flame away Ed O.
(btw, i know this isn't even remotely good trades...it's my first real attempt at these)

No no no no no no.
See, the Bulls need defense on the wings. Whens the last time Stack has been known for that. Also, with Stack AND Jalen in the lineup, thats going to take shots away from Curry. And in case you were losing track, thats the player Chicago's success hinges on in the future.
Stack and Jalen in the same lineup is not a good idea. They'd get slaughtered on the defensive end.
We'll keep Crawford. Thanks.
Second: Toronto lacks size. I can see an AD, 4th, filler for Rasheed. Possibly, depending on how high the Raptors are on Bosh/Pavel. But they wont swap Patterson with JYD. JYD can play PF. Patterson can't. The Raptors would be swamped at the 2/3 with Jeffries, Carter, Peterson, Murray, Patterson, and Lenard(should they choose to bring him back). And very thin upfront.
So, while trading for Rasheed isn't out of the picture, trading for JYD and Rasheed w/o giving back size upfront probably is. And although the #23 pick could land the Raptors some size, chances are it wont be a contributor that far down in the 1st round. And the Raptors are trying to make the playoffs. I dont see the Raptors trading AD, 4th, and JYD without getting back some size.

for some reason, I thought Williams was a SF.

JYD is a SF/PF. Much how KMart can play both. And he's valuable to the Raptors. If the Raptors had another good PF backing up AD/JYD(and Bradley isn't that yet), then maybe. But right now, JYD is their best backup PF.
Patterson is a SG/SF. And that would leave a glut of wings on the Raptors, leaving them w/o size. Something they would be ill-advised to do IMO.
Look at it this way. Lets take the Raptors and turn them into the Blazers(just for a sec. You'll get your team back, I promise ........)
Imagine the following: (and this isn't a translation of talent)
Jerome Williams is Z-Bo.
AD is Rasheed
Bradley is DD
Montross is Boujmte
Imagine if ZBo, Rasheed, DD, and Boujmte are the only ones who can play PF/C for you next year. Now, a deal comes along where you can trade Rasheed, ZBo, and a high pick for, and this is just for sake of arguement, Chris Webber and a late 1st rounder. You do that trade.
Next year, the only PF/C's you would have would be Webber, Davis, and Boujmte. And with Boujmte, you want him buried on the bench. See how thin you are up front?
Thats what would happen to Toronto, should they pull of that trade with JYD in it.
(Note: The imagining part wasn't comparing talent. Just matching up one Toronto big with one Portland big)

On the Toronto Deal let's simplify it.
Rasheed Wallace($17mil 1yr)
for
Antonio Davis($12mil 3yrs)
Lamond Murray($4.5mil 3 yrs)
#4 pick
Davis is a decent (albeit overpaid ) post player to bang for Portland. Murray had issues this season and didn't play a single minute. He IMO just didn't fit in on the Raptors and has been known as saying he'd like a return to the west coast. He would make a decent backup to replace Patterson.
Trade with Washington
Zach Randolph
Rueben Patterson
Jeff McInnis
for
Kwame Brown
Christian Laetner
#10
Trade with Chicago
Bonzi Wells
for
Eddie Robinson
#7 pick
Portland afterwards
PG Stoudamire/Ridnour(#10)
SG Anderson/Robinson/Wade (#7)
SF Murray/Woods
PF ADavis/Brown/Bosh(#4)
C DDavis/Boumje/Lang(#23)
And yes I know this team doesn't win a lot this season, but look at the future potential.
I don't think I go down this road, but it wouldn't be bad for a blow up rebuild.

or how about ???
Sheed for
AD, Alvin Williams, and the #4
Sorry Schilly I dislike Laetner, and am not convinced Kwame is the real deal
How about Bonzi, the #23 and max cash to Chicago for their pick and Jason Williams????
ER is not what we want...
