Re: Mike Conley Jr
Point guard seems to be a position that veterans dominate and that it's very difficult to project how good a draftee will be at the next level, because intangibles are just so important. Some guys are so exceptional that you can't pass up on them, but if I'm trying to build a championship team, I'd probably use my lotto pick on some other position, then get a veteran point guard through free agency or trade, or try lucking out by taking a flyer on a PG with a late first round pick.
Mike Conley looks very good, but not exceptional enough that I'd really bank on him being a great NBA player. Being a heady leader in college is one of those attributes that doesn't always carry over to the next level.
