Zach for Wallace?
...Gerald, that is.
Gerald Wallace is the OTHER SF who's a FA this off-season, and I'd much rather have him than Rashard Lewis, if only because he's a much more exciting player. It is true that he's very injury-prone, however, but he's more of an all-round player, and a better defender. He'd have to want to come here (because it would be a sign-and-trade), he wouldn't have to earn as much as Zach because Charlotte is under the cap.
Would they do it? Well, Jordan's made plenty of stupid decisions already. And if he was ready to draft a one-dimensional player last year, Zach is at least 2-dimensional. And it's not like Sean May has the PF position nailed down for them.
(Oh, and if you're wondering if Wallace is worth it - check out how he's been playing over the last ten games.)

Re: Zach for Wallace?
The only reason I can think of that Charlotte wouldn't keep Wallace is that they are too cheap to pay him as much as others offer. They operated way under the cap this season, and were even in danger of falling under the league minimum payroll for a bit. If the owner doesn't want to spend the money, then they might let Wallace go. But if that's the case, there's no way they'd take Zach's max contract.
I think they will keep him though. Michael Jordan has already said that they intend to spend more money next season. Gerald Wallace was recently quoted saying how much he felt he owed Bernie Bickerstaff for being the guy who both had enough faith in him to both trade for him and play him extended minutes (Bickerstaff was both coach and GM for the Cats). I think the team will give Wallace a nice offer and he will take it. I'd love for us to trade for him, and I definitely think it would be worth it to trade Zach for him, but it probably won't even be a possibility.

Re: Zach for Wallace?
Charlotte would never take on Zach huge contract, not to mention his image. We'd have to sweeten the pot a lot to get Wallace

Yep. Bobcats have stated publically that resigning Wallace and Okafor are their top priorties this summer.

Wallace is a free agent....currently Portland doesn't have enough $$ under the cap to sign a free agent of his caliber. Thus he would have to re-sign in Charlottle and get traded to Portland for it to work. Not going to happen though.

This coming year it will be somewhere just under $6 million for the first year of a contract, with a maximum of 8% raises in the remaining contract years.

Re: Zach for Wallace?
The Bobcats are already tied into Sean May and Okafor at the moment. If they pick top this season then add Durant or Oden to that mix. Doubt they are really interested in another PF. They need a scoring SG more than anything.

Only if the trade was specifically for Zach, though he's probably the only guy that makes enough that is actually desireable.
You have to remember there is the distinct possibility that Charlotte could get nothing for Wallace and he will just sign with a team under the cap.
So, let's say Wallace comes down to (and I realize this is purely hypothetical, and far fetched, but for argument's sake) saying that he had no intrest in returning to Charlotte, and would either sign with a team straight up, or Charlotte could sign him to a big contract and trade him for Zach. Would Charlotte think so little of Zach that, if Wallace agreed to go to Portland, they would simply not want Zach because of his contract and off court problems? I think it's possible they wouldn't. But another question, is would we want Gerald Wallace for a large contract?

I think it's an absolute that they wouldn't want Zach for those reasons. They already have Okafor and May. It's not like they are hurting for an inside scorer. It would be better financialy if they simply bit the bullet and let Wallace walk. Don't forget, they have a high draft pick in a draft loaded with quality SF's (on paper anyway) If they don't like any of them they can always trade their pick for a SF to replace Wallace.

On my mock draft last year, I had them picking Brandon Roy at #3, since he both filled a need and was the best NBA ready prospect available. For the Blazers' sake, I'm very glad Charlotte was dumber than I expected.
