Brandan Wright declares for draft
Quote:
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- North Carolina freshman Brandan Wright plans to enter the NBA draft in June.
The 6-foot-9 forward said during a news conference Monday he doesn't intend to sign with an agent yet -- a move that would keep open the possibility of a return to school next year. But coach Roy Williams said Wright was almost certain to remain in the draft.

This kid reminds me of Chris Bosh so much it is scary. This draft now has 3 prospects with legitimate chances at being franchise players.

bosh can shoot the three
i think this guy is aldridge with a faster game around the bucket.
him AND LA on the floor could be scary. if we got him we could run but still run a half court cause you know he has some basketball IQ from being coached by roy williams.

Re: Brandan Wright declares for draft
Excellent. Basically every top prospect who could be reasonably expected to enter the draft, did. The draft will be exactly as stacked as pundits claimed it would be.

He's 6'9'' - 6'10''. His expected NBA position is power forward.

Re: Brandan Wright declares for draft
IMO, he kind of plays like Dwight Howard. Not nearly as physical or powerful, just very quick around the basket. Not sure if that makes a lot of sense.

Re: Brandan Wright declares for draft
If the Blazers some how wound up with B Wright, it would leave them with a tough decision.
Wright is a great prospect, who probably can't play any position except PF. He is also a "project", who no one seems to consider NBA ready.
In this scenario, do you keep Zach for one or two more years until Wright is ready to make an impact? Do you dump Zach and almost certainly consign the team to another year in the lotto? Either way, if the kid can't contribute as a rookie, will the fans ever forgive him?

It is for this exact reason that I don't see B. Wright being a Blazer next year. If the Blazers get the 1st or 2nd picks, they go with Oden and Durant and if they get the third, they go with Horford who can contribute from day one. If the Blazers don't move up at all and have the 6th or later pick, I doubt that B.Wright would be on the board.
I would not mind if the Blazers select B. Wright because I think he will end up being one heck of a player, but he is still at least one full season away from playing 25mpg and likely more.
Either way, I am very glad to see highly sought picks like B. Wright enter the draft because he will almost certainly push another player towards the Blazers at 6th or later.

Re: Brandan Wright declares for draft
well if you want another draft scenerio...
what if PHO takes wright at 4 and then we can trade for him because they are trying to dump salary.
this is exactly what we did last year with BOS
this would give us Wright and possibly green or brewer.
or if we are really lucky wright and durant. haha just kidding but hey its possible.

Re: Brandan Wright declares for draft
Wright reminds me of a left-handed Amare. He will be leaps and bounds a better pro than Horford.

Re: Brandan Wright declares for draft
IMO there have always been 3 players in this draft that I want the Blazers to snag somehow. Durant and Oden are 1a and 1b, then Wright is next. Horford and others will be nice players, but these 3 will be great ones.
Aldridge and B Wright would be so fun to watch.
