That's a mighty big IF given his performance to date. I think his best option would have been to work hard on his game during the off season, come back and show Boston he's worth the $3,543,834 qualifying offer. It now appears that option is gone. As I said in the other thread, I think he'll be lucky to get a low ball offer from a lottery team desperate for a PG. This is definitely NOT a good career move on his part.

Which at this point is not entirely out of the realm of possibility. Highly unlikely, as people with money can afford good lawyers and usually end up cutting a deal by pleading to a lesser charge.

And prior to doggy gate, what long list of off-the-court issues did Qyntel Woods have? Let's see, he smoked pot - that's nothing. He was pulled over for speeding and showed his basketball card as he didn't have a valid driver's license and was charged with possessing less than one ounce of marijuana. The difference being possession of less than one ounce of marijuana is a misdemeanor where Telfair faces potential felony charges for illegal possession of a fire arm. This is Telfair's second gun related incident - three if you count the shooting at the nightclub after his $50,000 chain was stolen. He wasn't charge with anything in that incident. Qyntel Woods was never actually charged with dog fighting either (he plead guilty to first degree animal abuse, a misdemeanor). Yet, the perception remains. At this point, I don't see Qyntel's off-court resume being substantially worse than Qyntel's. The real difference is Telfair has an engaging smile and is a former lottery pick with a movie and book about him where Qyntel, on a good day, could best be described as "surly".

Give me a break... you think that kids that buy sneakers are going to be turned off that he was allegedly carrying a gun in his car?
|
The kids might not be, but their parents, who actually pay for the shoes, might be turned off by his image as a gun toting thug. I do agree his poor on-court performance has hurt his marketability more, but this incident didn't help. His endorsement potential peaked before he played his first NBA game and has been steadily declining ever since. Each off -the-court incident further erodes the possibility of future endorsement deals - and that costs him money.

Re: Celtics sever ties with Telfair
Let's be honest. If the kid was nearly as good as some of us hoped/thought he would be, they wouldn't be doing this.
They are just using this as an excuse to grab some cheap PR, and *maybe* save a few $$$ in getting out from under his contract.

17 freeloaders in one family.
I just don't know what else to say about that.

It's not so bad, really. The 17 are Sebastian's illegitimate offspring. It is only fair that he support them.

Re: Celtics sever ties with Telfair
Whatever happened to his cousin, Starbury, who's rolling in his dough?
If acquited, I see Atlanta giving him an opportunity to grow with their team. I still feel partial to Bassy and hope that he can get his act together. If not, his career would've began and ended with his cover shot with LeBron.
