I didn’t want to post this at first because I was superstitious that it would jinx the streak if the answer were more than their current streak. Now that its ten games I have a hard believing that any non-playoff team won that many in a row. I tried to find the answer and couldn’t.

I think that would be a tough one to research. As Yuyuza1 pointed out regarding JC's column. Nothing has ever happened until it does for the first time. I hope that makes sense, because I still don't think we make the playoffs. I think we win 41 games though. As always I would be very happy to be wrong.

Basketball-Reference keeps track of a lot of statistics and team records and such. It's pretty well organized. Of course, taking up any research project is time consuming, but if you're willing it's all there.

Okay I did some crafty searching using advanced google and limiting it to only the basketball reference domain. Here is what I have figured out.

1996-1997 Suns Lost 13 games to start the season. They won 11 straight toward the end of the season. They finished 40-42 on the season and got the seventh seed in the playoffs. They lost in the first round.

1982-83 Sonics Won 12 Straight and had a 8 game losing streak. They finished 48-34 and had the 4th seed, but lost in the first round of the playoffs.

Your winner is the 1977-78 New Orleans Jazz

They won 10 in a row, but also lost 8 in a row. They actually had one of the streakiest(word?) seasons ever. Check the link. They finished the season 39-43 and missed the playoffs.

Notable:

• In no season other than this season in which the Blazers had a 10 game winning streak have they had more than one losing streak of 4 games or more.
  
• The 1976-77 Championship team never won more than 6 in a row. They finished 49-33.
  
• The 1977-78 Blazers had six winning streaks of 6 games or more. Their best streak was 8. They started the season 50-10 (including all of those streaks) and were on pace to be 68-14 before losing Bill Walton.
  
• The 1987-88 Blazers had two 9 game winning streaks. They finished 53-29 and were the fourth seed in the playoffs.

Losing Streaks of 10 or more:

1971-72 18-64, missed the playoffs, 13 game losing streak (had five losing streaks of 7 or more games, won 3 in a row once and 2 in a row twice)
