Oden rehab
I read on scout and oregonlive that Oden is doing Pilates. Is this true? I read that Kidd started doing it and almost won the MVP. It sounds like the Nets are doing it and it has cut back the injuries. Anyway, I know very little about it but it is great if he is really willing to put in the work!

Re: Oden rehab
yoga is great more people should do it to strength areas that are hard to hit

Re: Oden rehab
I heard Kidd, Jordan, Kobe and Amare Staudamire all do or have done Pilates. Good company to be in!

Re: Oden rehab
Pilates helps build longer leaner muscles. They could be using it to condition the new bulk he has aqcuired. Pilates also helps increase coordination with slow controled movements. A lean, agile, in control big man sounds like a good thing to me.

Re: Oden rehab
Channing Frye was interviewed on ESPN News, and he too said Oden was doing Yoga and pilates. He even joked that someone should get Oden working out with the old women on youtube.

Re: Oden rehab
IIRC, I think Lucas used to do yoga stretches, on the baseline before games even.

Re: Oden rehab
When was that interview? Nothing against Yoga, but I hope he is doing Pilates. I remember reading some interview (maybe from Kidd) that said after doing Pilates they were more explosive.

I had a football coach that swore by them. They definitely helped me come out of my stance faster. I did feel more explosive; during that time I could dunk a basketball easier.

Re: Oden rehab
I would love to see him come back with the extra size but still be just as explosive and agile as he was before!

Re: Oden rehab
I guess this video would fit well here.
<object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/yqeu4XK7hH0&rel=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/yqeu4XK7hH0&rel=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
Check out the speed/range of movement in his knee already!

Re: Oden rehab
It seems hard to believe that it's almost been 4 months since he had the surgery.

Re: Oden rehab
I heard the docs said no summer league. That is a way off though. Maybe all the working out and Pilates will step up his timetable.
