Would Redd be a good match for the Blazers?
Over at the NBA forums there is a thread claiming that the Bucks are looking at blowing up, keeping only Yi and Bogut. Redd may be traded. Redd may be traded thread
Well, I started to think about how many pieces the Blazers have and that we may be a good trading partner. Especially if Roy is the PG of the future.
here is the post I made over there. Do you think Redd would be a good match? Do you think that we have the pieces that the Bucks would want without trading our big three?

Redd to the Blazers
Raef (one more year expiring contract), Martell Webster and either Jarrett Jack or Sergio Rodriguez plus this years first round pick.
There are many other players the Blazers would be able to package that are young, talented and on great contracts. The only ones that would be off limits are Roy, Aldridge and Oden. Players like Outlaw (4th quarter monster and great defender), Jones (best 3pt shooter in NBA and great defender), Channing Frye and more. I think the trade could work for both teams. The Blazers have too much youth to get everyone playing time, and the Bucks need to rebuild.

Re: Would Redd be a good match for the Blazers?
I would absolutely love a Roy/Redd backcourt. I'm a big Redd fan.
Have Roy penetrating and kicking out to either Redd or Jones on either side of the court at the 3-point line would be nasty, or with the choice of LaMarcus or Oden on the box waiting for a jam.
That would be so sweet to watch.

What a freaking deadly starting five that would be
PG: Brandon Roy
SG: Michael Redd
SF: Either Jones, Outlaw or Webster depending on who the Bucks wanted
PF: Aldridge
C: Oden
and we would still likely have a pretty sweet group of talent off the bench. We would get a little older and more talented without killing our timeframe for championships.

No. I would not trade Martell in any way shape or form.
And isn't Redd a ball hog?
He does have the Ohio State connection with Oden though...

Redd has a contract that runs through 2011. No thanks.

The trade would kill the 2009 plan, but Redd would likely be a better option than anyone we would get from the possible cap space. If this trade went down today, we would be second rounders this year and next year we might be fighting for a championship.

Redd's favorite player is Drexler and that's why he wears #22, with that said I'd rather just wait for Fernandez, Redd is overpaid.

Wow. Webster the untouchable. Eat your hearts out Cleavland, we do not want that LeBron fellow you try to exchange for our Webster
Being serious for a second, the real issue with Redd is that he is not a great defender. But, it sure would make for one hell of fire-power if he was in that line-up.

Re: Would Redd be a good match for the Blazers?
well we do need to trim down the roster...i would put Outlaw in the Oden.roy/LMA group of untouchable for a Redd deal...martell..jarrett..1st (15-20 range)..and raef's contract seems fair..I would throw in a future 1st or a couple 2nds too. Our Depth next year would be
PG- Roy/Blake/Sergio
SG-Redd/Fernandez
SF-Jones/Outlaw
PF-Aldridge/Frye/McRoberts
C-Oden/Przybilla
IR-Miles,Green, (Koponoen/Freeland)?

Re: Would Redd be a good match for the Blazers?
Jarrett Jack
Channing Frye
Darius Miles
2008 1st round
For
Michael Redd
Works Money wise and creates a deadly rotation
Roy/Blake/Sergio
Redd/Rudy
Webster/Jones
Lamarcus/Outlaw/Mcroberts
Oden/Pryzbilla
With Lafrentz, Green, +1 on the injured reserve. I would much rather see Frye go than Webster or Outlaw, and it opens up the back up 4 spot to be outlaws exclusively next year where he's been shining so far this year.

Re: Would Redd be a good match for the Blazers?
No thanks. Redd is a gunner who needs to shoot the ball about 20 times a game to be effective. And his shooting percentages are average at best. He's a HORRIBLE defender an average, at best, rebounder and a below average passer - and he has a MAX contract. No thanks.

Re: Would Redd be a good match for the Blazers?
That would be nice to pick up Redd, however, it would be nice to have a sharp shooter at the small forward. Blake, Roy, Redd, Aldridge, and Oden? Looks good to me.

Re: Would Redd be a good match for the Blazers?
Like stated above this would kill the cap room that ZBO freed up, but would there ever be a better option than Redd? who knows. 18 million dollars in 2011.
If they are looking to rebuild maybe Mo Williams might be a better target, or Villanueva.
Mo Williams is having a good year, but that would interfere with the Roy at PG bit.

Re: Would Redd be a good match for the Blazers?
We can't wait on the pipe dream that is Chris Paul. If I had to choose between getting Redd cheaply and help thinning out the roster as well or wait for over a year to see if we can even sign Paul..I'll take the sure thing. We need to trim our roster down anyways, so why not get Redd?
