Semi OT: LOL, Walton torches Randolph
While Steven A Smith was talking about the Knicks beinga dumb team, Walton chimes in with this gem....
"What do you expect? I mean look what happened to Portland as soon as Zach Randolph left."
Then SAS says that you can't pin this on Randolph because he wasn't even there.
Walton responds with something like "all I know is Portland is twice the team without Zach, and NY is half the team with him."
Classic

I don't often agree with Bill Walton. But he's totally right about this.

Re: Semi OT: LOL, Walton torches Randolph
Classic Walton......and an example of why he is the one exBlazer I carry a deep and abiding hatred for.
He ****ed the fans in Portland. He ****ed the fans in SD. He semi-****ed the fans in Boston. He is the LAST former player who has the right to point fingers at anybody.
What a worthless, self-rightous weasel.
PS: Your brat plays for the Lakers!

Sorry, but this is one subject on which I cannot be calm or objective.

Still, none of the above takes away from him being correct.

Re: Semi OT: LOL, Walton torches Randolph
Walton was a great player and a dumb, sarcastic commentator. He doesn't care whether his words on Zach are accurate. He just knows they're the catchy, current thing to say. His job is to fill air time with words, any words.

Re: Semi OT: LOL, Walton torches Randolph
If anyone bothered to listen to Bill Simmons' podcast interview of Bill Walton a couple of months ago, there was a very telling segment near the end where Simmons called out Walton on a subject that Blazer fans have been simmering and sitting on for over 30 years: that Bill Walton was at least partially to blame for the Blazers not being a Dynasty in the late 70s and early 80s by quitting on the team and badmouthing them in the media while demanding a trade. Walton refused to talk about it, and pretty much ended the interview right there. Simmons rightly commented that it was ironic that Walton would wax nostolgic about the championship Blazer team and the 50-10 team the year after, and bemoan it's demise, when in reality, Walton himself was largely to blame for it's destruction.
Simmons also asked Walton if he'd ever read "The Breaks Of The Game", and Walton said no. "It hit too close to home", he said. I wouldn't doubt that, since Halberstam pretty much nailed Walton's feet to the floor in the book for being a self-centered jerk.
That all being said, I still love the Big RedHead for bringing Portland's only professional sports championship to the Rose City, and I always will.

He is the only former player who has the credentials to point fingers. He is right about Zach. It takes one to know one.
Bill Walton sued his former team after he broke a bone in his left foot and blamed it on the team doctor. I remember how bad it was then. Walton sueing the blazers was a very dark time for the team. More so in some ways than the jailbazers era.

Re: Semi OT: LOL, Walton torches Randolph
Walton is entertaining sometimes, as he is here.
But, don't get too excited, his logic is absolutely HORRIBLE. By that logic, James Jones should be MVP (we're 5-12 without him, 15-1 with him). Walton was being funny, but please don't him those comments seriously.

You were doing so well until the last paragraph!
If you go over Walton's interviews over the past 20 years, he repeatedly bemoans how he let down the fans in San Diego - but never once does he express the slightest regret over what he did to the fans in Portland.
Miserable scumsucker!
