OK, I Read The Tribune's Miles Article
From: The Tribune
..and saw this KP quote:
Quote:
|
“We’re going to do absolutely everything we can to get this guy on the basketball court,” General Manager Kevin Pritchard said Wednesday via telephone from Boston. “He’s had a long road back, and he’s worked hard. Hopefully, he can get back on the court, but he’s still a ways away.”
|
...which, to me, in a way, begs the question......why does (the recovering) Oden travel with the team.....yet Darius does not?
I would think that if KP is "truly" serious about the team's commitment to Miles, then Darius, like Oden, would be traveling with them, be there rooting the team on, continuing to develop comaraderie and chemistry with the guys, etc., etc., etc.
Right?

Re: OK, I Read The Tribune's Miles Article
Oden has said that he wants to travel with the team on most of the road games because he wants to get used to the NBA lifestyle.

Ding, ding!! That's a great question, ABM. On subjects like these, Pritchard is a very good liar. He's like a politician when it comes to giving the "correct" and "politically sensitive" answer.
I just hope to God he's lying to us again this time, because I don't want Darius Miles anywhere near any court the Trail Blazers are playing on.

I say to keep him around and get him into game shape. He can stay on the inactive roster or be on the roster as a 12th man. You never know what could happen. SOmeone could get hurt and then we might need Miles to come in and carry some of the load.

Part of the adjustment for rookies is just to the NBA lifestyle. That means playing on the road, checking in and out of hotels, dealing with your fame in new cities, etc. Darius Miles has certainly experienced all of that already. He's a veteran. Greg Oden has not, so the 'Zers are simply giving him experience on what an extended road trip will be like.

If that happens, you know the season is a loss . . .

He didn't say which team's court they're hoping to get him back on.

If we get to the point where a inept shooting SF, who doesn't play defense very well and is coming off of basically the last 2 years off has to carry some of the load, we're screwed.

How do we know this? Nobody has seen Miles play on a winning team with strong leadership. Being a role player is obviously disappointing in terms of what his ceiling could have been but he's never wanted to be more then that. Which would actually be perfectly fine on this team.

The guy is a slacker. Period. I hate his game. We've built a team of guys who play hard, play defense, and play together. I don't want Darius Miles coming in and ****ing that up.

I dont want to see him either but I dont get how the season would be a loss if we had to play him. You really think this team would put up with his *&^%? If he didnt play very good he wouldnt play period.
Playing Miles means Webster or Jones went down. I love what those guys have done but I dont think we'd just fall apart if one of them was out. If we can get by with Aldridge and Roy out then Im sure we'll live if one of our SF's got hurt.
I know people hate Miles and all but he isnt the antichrist that would usher in armageddon to our season.
