Marc Berman: Blazers in finals next year
Quote:
PORTLAND - Let me be the first to predict Portland to advance to the Finals next season.
A few of the writers drove up to the Blazers' practice facility in the suburbs this morning and saw rookie center Greg Oden rehabbing. Wow.
Oden has become a monster, broad shoulders and chest, thicker legs. Oden, whose out for the season because of knee surgery, said he's put on 40 pounds since the Blazers made him the No. 1 pick in the draft.

LOL good to hear they are impressed with our Oden though.
Add Harris and we win the Finals next year.

what i've learned as a blazer fan is that we never win anything until we actually win it. lessons of the past people. be humble, cheer and support your team and never be afraid to criticize any move.

Re: Marc Berman: Blazers in finals next year
Let's finish this season before we worry about what might happen next year. And as much as I want us to win titles, let's be real..next years team still is not a front-runner.
Even with a "healthy" Oden (who doesn't have the experience necessary), the only thing that doesn't seem outrageous to claim is that they might be odds on favorite to win the division.

Re: Marc Berman: Blazers in finals next year
The thing is, the west is insanely good.
Spurs, Mavs, Suns, Lakers, New Orleans....i HOPE the Blazers are better than these teams next year but I'm not sure if they will be.
rest of the teams I don't think will be THAT much of a concern altough they may be....but I doubt it

Curry and Q-Rich possibly out tonight with the flu? Good stuff.

Re: Marc Berman: Blazers in finals next year
If we can pull off gettin' Harris for Sergio, Jack, and a pick maybe throw in webster or Frye... with Oden and Fernandez (who was January player of the month with over 30ppg) we will be in contention.
Portland, LA, Utah, Denver, San Antonio, Dallas, Phoenix... that is 7. Golden State, Houston, New Orleans i mean come on, we can't say final s next year though, the west will be better than ever for the next 2 or 3 years, before age hits the top teams, and we peak.
we NEED harris, that is the final piece of the dynasty. Harris, Roy, Outlaw, Aldridge, Oden. backed up by Blake, Fernandez, Jones/Webster, Frye/Bass, Pryzbilla... come on...

Really? You better tell Pritchard, because he's clearing cap space to get a big free agent in 2009.

Re: Marc Berman: Blazers in finals next year
I wonder if this was written before or after the Lakers' trade.

Re: Marc Berman: Blazers in finals next year
Did he say this before, or after the Lakers acquired Pau Gasol?
Seriously though, the Blazers are loaded with talent and should definitely contend. But a Finals appearance, I'm not so sure about that.

can't get paul or williams. Davis won't fit style. Kidd and Nash are old... what big signing? what do we need other than a PG? we dont' need 2's and 3's... Roy, Webster, Outlaw, Jones, Fernandez...
If we get harris, we clear cap space, and re-sign our core, out top 10 guys...
Harris | Blake
Roy | Fernandez
Outlaw | Jones
Aldridge | ?Frye?Bass?
Oden | Pryzbilla
we give up Webster, Sergio, Jack, 1st? or w/e... we should keep that team in tact and we will be fine. But i won't doubt w/e KP does, i'm on board with his decisions, but like ppl have said, if he can pull this off, it would be awesome. We have too many players right now that want minutes and money, we need to narrow it down to a 8-10 man rotation instead of the 13 man rotation it would be next year not including our 4-5 draft picks. this trade woudl be hawt!
