You be the GM. What vet would you take?

What veteran if any would you take on our team and for what trade?
You be the GM. What would you do if you could have any player and propose a deal.

You should put up a poll of vet NBA players that we can choose from but if I had to choose it would be Tony Parker.

If I was GM, I would not panic and trade for a veteran simply because our college aged team overachieved and is now dropping back to Earth.

Re: You be the GM. What vet would you take?

Andre Igoudala:

Outlaw, Frye and Jack

for

Igoudala and Giricek (after Feb. 29th).

We lose Outlaw, which is unfortunate but Igoudala is a prime time scorer...he gets rebounds, runs....very offensively skilled. He has a lot of turnovers...but I am big on this guy.

Him, Richard Jefferson or Gerald Wallace are the guys I would personally want at the 3.

Just another player that can take it to the rim when Roy is double teamed. We need more guys that can get to the FT line.

Re: You be the GM. What vet would you take?

I disagree strongly with the popular notion that this team needs a vet. Roy will be entering his third season next year and will always be a steadying influence. Furthermore, I expect Blake, Joel, and Jones to continue to play big roles for this team. Where would a "vet" even fit in? PG? There are no vet PGs out there that have the type of game we need next to our franchise player.

I agree that a "PG" is the final piece to the puzzle. I put it in "" because I think the ideal complement to Roy is not a true PG, but rather an athletic guard in the 6'2" - 6'4" range who can REALLY defend the quick PGs and also create his own offense both on and off the ball (for when Roy does the handling). The only player in the NBA that I can think of that fits this description to a T is Devin Harris, who is also young enough to fit any plans we may have.

No one of the Bibby, Miller, Davis ilk plays any defense and all are pushing it in terms of age for this team. Kirk Hinrich is on the borderline for me.

This is why, short of being able to trade for Harris (who Dallas is probably going to hold onto), I hope KP focuses his attention very carefully on Eric Gordon, Jerryd Bayless, and OJ Mayo. One of these guys could really be what gets us over the top. And please don't whine about getting younger. I know there are plenty of proponents of trading this year's pick, an opinion I shared until I really started thinking about our guard play. Like I said in the opening paragraph, I think we have plenty of poise and veteran leadership.

I seriously doubt the Sixers would trade Iguodala. Also, if we're not careful we could start to look like the old Blazers with no jump-shooters to stretch the floor when Oden comes back. All three guys you just traded are better shooters than AI, Jefferson, and Wallace if I'm not mistaking.

I still think Webster will develop into our ideal SF, though right now it seems shooting is his greatest weakness; ironic and frustrating.

Re: You be the GM. What vet would you take?

In terms of somewhat realistic targets, Corey Maggette would be nice. He doesn't ruin any possible cap space dreams and is a good scorer, gets to the line well. A massive upgrade over Jack.

But that's the best trade I could really come up with, it works with either Outlaw or Webster.

Re: You be the GM. What vet would you take?

I don't think a vet is the answer.

I've already listed some of the reasons why I wouldn't want John McCain, and pretty much all the WWll vets are too old.
