An overlooked John Nash blunder...

The Jarrett Jack for Linas Kleiza draft day trade is proving to be a huge blunder. Right now, Kleiza is what we're missing at the three. He can defend, rebound, score, and shoot the three. He's only a year older than Martell and is developing an all-around game. He's versatile playing the SG/SF/PF positions this season for Denver. As a prospect, Martell doesn't come close to what Kleiza is turning out to be.

Great move, John

I'm a Jack fan, but I'll admit that I'd rather have Kleiza right now.

Denver needs to give Kleiza more PT. The guy is a great role player.

Great move, John

believing everything ric bucher says lol? yeah jack has been a disappointment, but kleiza is certainly not "what we're missing" at 3, since outlaw is the better player in virtually every way, including defending & rebounding. not to mention outlaw shoots over 100 points higher from 3P lol. right now we just need to start outlaw and let webster be the scoring guy off the bench.

Your memory is wrong. John Nash made that move. Like choosing Telfair over Jefferson, and Webster over Paul and Williams, and back in the day.....Kittles over Kobe.

Not the best GM when it comes to drafting. I have read stories and heard from people that KP was screaming to draft Paul over Webster, but PatterNash said no

Re: An overlooked John Nash blunder...

remember back 2 years ago when telfair was starting to show signs and people on this board were saying dont' look it as chris paul vs webster, but rather look at it as

Telfair + Webster vs Paul + JR Smith?

yeah i think new orleans won that battle by a long shot.

don't forget Ricky Sanchez!

Oh how I love re-hashing the past as if it was obvious at the time what the better move would have been. Oh wait, no I don't...

yeah ... this is a really bad memory. I just cant imagine how good we would be if we had Paul. But we may have not been able to get Roy and LMA.

You have to think about that too. Everything Nash did lead us to get Roy, which I think is worth it.
We just have to move forward and not look back. Our past is bad!!!

If I'm going to combine 20/20 hindsite with the fantasy that if Nash had made different decisions along the way it wouldn't have changed the other great things that have happened since, then Kleiza would be backing up Josh Smith at the 3.

here is my sweet pretend lineup... I think they'd be pretty good!

Chris Paul
Roy
Josh Smith
LA
Greg

Great move, John
A few things:

1. Why regret the past moves. At the time, everyone was VERY excited to get Jarrett Jack over some unknown guy with a hard to say name.

2. This was a pritch move, or at the time it was attributed to him.

Check this article on NBA.com:

http://www.nba.com/blazers/news/Jarr...3086-1218.html

Quote:
The pre-draft buzz was all about the heralded point guards. The college crop of 2005 contained three of the best point-guard prospects to enter the draft in a decade -- Paul, Deron Williams of Illinois and Felton.

Portland could have drafted any of those three since the Blazers had the third pick in the draft, but it passed on bidding in the point-guard stakes because Kevin Pritchard and his scouting staff believed that they had discovered a well-kept secret in Jarrett Jack of Georgia Tech.

Portland's scouting report showed that Jack was very close to Paul, Williams and Felton in his ability to run a team, set up plays and play defense. Trail Blazer scouts had a good book on Jack. They had seen him as a sophomore hit the game-winner in Tech's upset of North Carolina in the Atlantic Coast Conference tournament. Later, they had watched him score 29 points in the NCAA Regional Tournament in St. Louis to lead Georgia Tech to an upset overtime victory over favored Kansas. For that effort, he was named the tournament's most outstanding player.

Not everyone... I was still extremely disappointed to have passed on Chris Paul and I wasn't alone in that. A couple of others had been pretty adament about DWilliams being the guy. Though I'd seen him a lot in college, I was not excited about Jarret.

just saying...

Re: An overlooked John Nash blunder...

Jack and Kleiza are pretty equal to me. Our "fans" are just so blinded with animosity towards Jarrett they don't realize how good he is sometimes. Linas has bee na huge surprise, but what does he do that James doesn't? We already have Trav, who is a much better all around player, so where would these minutes come from for Linas?
