OT: Kidd trade heating up again
Looks like it's back on. Should we be happy that the Blazers aren't in it this time?

The proposed swap -- salvaged from talks of a three-way trade with Portland that developed and fizzled quickly two weeks ago -- would require Dallas to send 24-year-old point guard Devin Harris, veteran swingman Jerry Stackhouse, the expiring contracts of center DeSegana Diop and swingman Devean George and another player such as guard Maurice Ager to New Jersey for Kidd and possibly veteran guard Darrell Armstrong. It's believed that Dallas would also send New Jersey cash and future draft considerations.

That's a lot to give up for Kidd. Well, if it keeps the Lakers from making a bid for Kidd I'm all for it.

Yeah, if it were Chris Wallace/Michael Heisley involved, the Lakers would probably get Kidd for Coby Karl, DJ Mbenga and Trevor Ariza.

What's the word on Harris's injury? When is he expected to play again?

Re: OT: Kidd trade heating up again
Ya gotta love seeing another Western Conference team mortgage their future to win now. When our time comes, they wont be as much of a factor.

Re: OT: Kidd trade heating up again
If this deal is in fact close to being done or becomes official today, it helps our chances of beating Dallas tonight because they'll have a depleted roster... especially if J.Howard doesnt play due to injury.

it helps our chances of beating dallas in the future if we play them now at or near full strength. i would rather do that for the sake of experience.

I'd actually rather have the Lakers go for him if they have to give up some of their younger pieces. Kidd's going to be done in 2-3 years. Younger guys won't.

Re: OT: Kidd trade heating up again
If this deal goes down in the next few days, what team does Kidd play for at this weekends All Star Game?

Re: OT: Kidd trade heating up again
I wonder if Cuben could get Jewon Howard and Jamal Mashburn to come out of retirement when he lands Jason Kidd in Dallas?

Re: OT: Kidd trade heating up again
Updated deal: Replace Armstrong with Malik Allen, and New Jersey gets $3 mil and two first-rounders.
I think the Nets make out as well as you could in this deal. They get a young stud at PG, a scoring threat off the bench with Stackhouse, Diop is no slouch at center, George is OK but gives them depth, and Ager is another young player. They get two first-rounders, and the 2010 pick may be a good one if Dallas just gets old fast.
This is the kind of deal that Memphis should've looked for. A young stud, and first-rounders, and some other young guys. Not freakin' Kwame Brown.
