Now that being said, there is nothing going on in this losing streak that can't be solved with some effort. They only need to do a few things:

1. Get to the rim. Quit being afraid and get to the rim. When a guy like Martell has a big on him on the perimeter, quit being hesitant, get to the rim. Aldridge has the lane open a lot but hesitates to drive, yet I see him on a fast break take one lope from the free throw line and dunk? It is no different when the lane is open. Bring down the Hammer!

2. Getting to the rim will improve rebounding. The reason being, that outside shots that miss give long rebounds, and give the opposition a chance to run. This is killing the Blazers. The other being that when a player attracts defensive players to help on the weak side, it takes them out of position to rebound.

3. Quit passing up good shots to pass it to an open three pointer when the opportunity you have to score is much better. Too much hesitation.

All good ideas. The problem is, they were good ideas when the team was winning, and nobody listened!

IMHO, this team believed too much in their own hype. Their mistakes were being covered up by their red-hot perimeter shooting. When those shots stopped falling, they went into brain lock.

28-24 Wow guys. I think if I told you the Blazers would be 28-24 at the All-Star break without Greg Oden. I think everyone would take that in a sec. This was supposed to be one of the worst teams in the league. Playoff hopes may be dimming but they have a serious chance at getting 41 wins.

Re: Are the Blazers this bad?

When the Blazers play harder than the other team, they can play
with anyone, and are an upper echelon team. When they don't,
they are a 30 win type of team. Lately, we've been playing like
the latter.

That's my sense of it, anyway.

Re: Are the Blazers this bad?

What's the point in winning anything this season? Even if you try, you MIGHT make it into the playoffs as an 8th seed, which means unless you're playing Dallas you're out in the first round. I think you'd be better off with another lottery pick to add to Oden, Aldridge and Roy and look to the future.
