I am betting that with regard to the Suns, Spurs, and Mavericks, the answer is "yes." Key players on each team (Nash, Shaq, Duncan, Kidd) just don't have that much left in the tank. But, the Lakers are younger, and I think will be among the elite teams for years to come. Gasol isn't a banger, so he isn't likely to fall apart, the guy who is going to bang (Bynum) is a kid, and Kobe shows no signs of slowing down.
In a few years, I think it'll be the Blazers, Lakers, Hornets, and Jazz as the Best of the West. The Rockets, depending on if T-Mac can ever stay healthy, might be up there, too.
