Re: Kings vs. Blazers Game Thread
I really don't understand why Nate hasn't tried to go big yet. Roy, Martell, Outlaw, Aldridge and Pryz. That would help the rebounding and create mismatch's at the guard. You try to swap a stronger player to guard Roy, then Martell and Outlaw can go to work against a smaller player. Bigger swingmen also means more rebounds.
You will note tonight by starting Roy at SF that Nate matched him up against Artest, their best defender. Bad move. One of several coaching mistakes made tonight.
You will also note after having 3 good quarters, Portland forgets about Aldridge in the 4th, or when they do get it to him he passes up good looks to pass to perimeter players. They have to utilize the post game, it's the only way to make teams honest and get them into foul trouble.
One last thing. The Blazers aren't going to make this get better until they take the ball to the rim. The whole reason for the foul disparity tonight was that the more aggressive team always gets the calls. Sacramento had 14 more points in the paint then Portland. The Blazers meanwhile, were passing up open looks from 5 feet to get it to a 3 point shooter. That is exactly what they want you to do. Don't fall for it, take the easy deuce.

LMA isn't going to the hoop after he sets screens. I'm sick of seeing him pick and pop from 20 feet out when he should be running to the hoop.

Actually he did several times, but unfortunately Jack was handling the ball at the time, and completely missed him.

might be that miller is already gone. might just be a tankological move they'll now employ when playing against teams they might accidentally beat like the sonics

Maybe we should do the same.
Rose, Gordon, or Bayless would be nice fits here.

Re: Kings vs. Blazers Game Thread
Another savage and unnatural beating from a team we should have been able to handle on our own floor.
This team is broken mentally and emotionaly. All the talk of chemistry and character is being revealed as a cruel joke. I don't see any trades out there that will help right now, but KP needs to be assertive during the off-season. In particular, he needs to forget that win streak ever happened. It was nothing but smoke-and-mirrors, and in hindsight may have been the worst thing that could have happened to this team.

Uh...hate to break it to you but Artest wasn't guarding Roy because he was playing the 3. Artest was guarding Roy because he's their best defender and would've been on Roy anyways even if he was playing the 2. If Martell was starting they would have just put Kevin Martin on Martell and take their chances. But Roy would have been guarded by Artest either way. Also having Roy guard Artest was smart because Roy is a better defender than Martell. Granted it could have tired Roy out, but Roy was tired anyways battling a cold

I disagree. Corey Maggette, Mike Miller, Danny Grainger, Ben Gordon or Udonis Haslem could all help this team right now and for the next few seasons.
Roy looks like he's out there all by himself with no other finishers or shooters. I feel bad for the guy.

granger is a pipe dream, ben gordon and the contract he wants would KILL team chemistry, outlaw > haslem and maggette. miller would help IF he takes the minutes jack is getting now, but it would be more likely nate uses him (or roy) at SF creating defensive liabilities. none of those guys is really much of an upgrade over what we have. we just need to stop mis-using our current roster.

what game were you watching lol? roy forcing things ineffectively down the stretch was the main reason we lost. webster outlaw and LA were all hitting shots. we didn't use them when it mattered.

BRoy doesn't look like he trusts the rest of the guys much when the game is on the line. Can't say I blame him right now. But that's why he's forcing it IMHO.

Not sure what alternate reality you are speaking of where TO is better than Maggette who averages 21.6/5.8 boards/2.5 assists and is #7 in free throws attempted.
Haslem is a better defender than TO and is almost averaging a double/double with 12.1/9.3 rebounds. Tough to say TO's 13 points and 4.8 boards are superior overall numbers.

i live in the reality where outlaw's PER is 4 points higher than haslem's and maggette duplicates roy and and will want a huge debilitating contract.

Magette doesn't duplicate Roy. What the hell are you smokin? Roy can create for others, and tends to. Magette tends to create for himself. Magette also gets to the line, something this team desperately needs.
