Did you just call Frye "a faster version of Haslem who can hit the 20 footer" ..?
I think most Heat fans wouldn't do Haslem for Frye + Jack straight up so..

trust me we have an infinitely better chance of getting derrick rose, than we do of chris paul. because .01% is infinitely more likely than 0%.

Re: Wish List: Draft Day
Unless Love moves up from where he is currently projected, I bet he does not come out this year. He doesn't need the money, and life is pretty good being a star in Westwood. But then I would not be surprised if he did move up into the top 10. http://nbadraft.net/ is a little off base in my opinion. Westbrook is good but #10? Lopez at #3???

Re: Wish List: Draft Day
I want to see us draft a senior big man who can rebound like Paul Millsap and be defensively intimidating. After that, we should trade Jack, Frye and McBob with all of our second rounders for a good perimeter defender like Trenton Hassell and some sort of future pick. That leaves a roster spot open for Rudy, and both perimeter defense and rebounding are addressed.

Don't you think the addition of Greg provides this and more?

I think he's a one and done guy and that someone will select him in the top 10. I see him as a likely solid pro and that he'd probably be a pretty good fit skillset wise in Portland projecting well beside LA or Oden. Also adding another young Big on a rookie deal this off-season would seem to protect the club if they're to go after a top Free Agent in the summer 09. They'll have to purge the roster of Frye's contract and many more... they'd be down to just Joel, Greg, and LaMarcus of Bigs under contract.

Re: Wish List: Draft Day
I've gotta say I've never been a big fan of pro teams drafting the "home town hero", he might be alright, but I tend to see Mr. Love as a career journeyman. I'd still like to see how McBob develops into a backup PF, and instead nab a PG like Russell Westbrook or even try to move up and get Jerryd Bayless with a combination of guys like Martell, Jack, Frye, etc. plus draft picks, (if that's possible).
As for a starting SF I'd be happy with a healthy James Jones in that role and let Travis come off the bench as our sixth man pulling PF or SF duty depending on matchups.
Lineup:
PG: Blake/(draft-pick)/Sergio
SG: Roy/Rudy/Von Wafer
SF: Jones/Travis
PF: Aldridge/Travis/McBob
C: Oden/Przybilla
Regarding hold-overs from this year, I'm not sure who sticks around, but out of Jack, Frye, Martell, Raef (and Darius I guess?) I tend to think that the most likely would be Channing; he's long, he can shoot and he has a decent nose for the ball and is going to be valuable as Oden (likely) gets into foul trouble.

Re: Wish List: Draft Day
I tend to think that a banger is a better use of a 13ish pick than a PG (our other need), and this year the players coming out seem to cater more to the the former skillset than the latter.
Unfortunately there seems to be a stigma against picking players from your hometown, esp. on these boards.
The thing is, I'd probably go with someone like Kevin Love if he wasn't from Portland. The fact that he is causes one to give pause, however.

Re: Wish List: Draft Day
1.) Michael Beasley: BPA, period. Dude can play 3, especially since our 4 (LMA) likes to face up. Even with Oden on the low block he'll have room to operate. Beasley is worth taking even if it means we have to shuffle our rotation around. Not taking Beasley because we have Outlaw is kinda like not taking Chris Paul because we had Telfair.
2.) Derrick Rose: Hasn't blown me away, but he has a lot of upside. Dude can get to the rim.
3.) Jerryd Bayless: I think he'd thrive next to Roy. Strong slasher who can bring the ball up and finish at the rim. Plays good D.
4.) Eric Gordon: Great scorer, can guard PG's and function as SG. With a playmaker like Roy I think we can take more of a non traditional PG. Roy does best when he dominates the ball, so I think players like Bayless and Gordon who can play off the ball will be more valuable to us than to other teams.
5.) DeAndre Jordan: You can have too many young and athletic bigs. Dude is fast enough to play the 4. Remember that 3 headed monster people talked about trying with Z-Bo, LMA, and Oden? I say try it with Jordan. Then we have a MASSIVE young and talented front court rotation. Our bigs don't get worn out with too many minutes during the season and we become a playoff NIGHTMARE. Besides, Pryzbilla will not be here always.
6.) O.J. Mayo: I think that he and Roy would make a very good back court.
7.) Kevin Love: Skilled low post banger that can pass.
8.) Richard Hendrix : Again, a force down low.
Here are my assumptions: I think that a competent SF can be traded for. I think that SF is a fairly easy position to fill. That is why there are no true SF's in my list. I love Outlaw, he's one of my favorites, but if I have to choose, I'd rather have Beasley.
I think that Roy is such a playmaker that a pure point is unnecessary. I'd rather have a Monta Ellis, Ben Gordon, Tony Parker type that can play defense.
I think that you can't have too many Bigs. And if somehow you do, they are very valuable and can be traded to fill a position of need.

Down 13 now...I have lost all confidence in this team, and I am so ****ing thankful that we don't play the Portland Mother****ing Trail Blazers any more this season. They'll sweep us.
